Hi all
I'm posting here for traffic as I have posted in weddings but it's not too busy in there.

So my Oh and I have been together for almost 18 years , got kids mortgage etc but never got married as I have always felt it isn't needed BUT I feel now we should just get married to just make it all legal etc (how romantic I know) anyway I do not want anyone to know . I can not bear a fuss I'm really shy and hate the thought of loads of people all focusing on me , I also would hate a hen night etc so the best thing to do is elope . I've looked at some hotels that do the two of us deals but it's still about 1k . I don't want my local registry office because my parents did it there and it was a disaster from start to divorce and beyond!
Any ideas what the best but cheapest way to do it with minimal fuss is please :)
Thanks in advance :)

Can you pick another registry office and then appeal on MN for witnesses?

Is there somewhere you've gone on holiday? Somewhere else that means something to you?

I'm eloping next week. We are getting married by the side of a river in the Highlands. And I have two Mumsnetters as witnesses.
In Scotland all you need is marraige schedule and a celebrant and you can go wherever you want to get married.
