if no plea is entered at magistrates court and it is refered and sent to crown court is the date given for another plea hearing or the start of the trial?

Also what is the victims rights to be told that the first plea hearing is happening? Should they be informed?

The crown court date will be to enter a plea.
Witnesses not usually informed of this date, but can ask either the court of the hearing date.

A lot depends on the charge, as to how much information and updating the complainant gets in the early stages.

thanks.

Not winesses though, victims.Or rather victims family as the case involves a death. The first plea hearing has happened, but the first they knew of it was an article in the local press. They were informed of the crown court date, but the way they were told made it sound as if that was the first time it woukd be heard.

Communication can be crap in the early stages.
I'm sorry.

Is there no family liaison officer available to the family from the police?
