Spending the day with family tomorrow. My parents and siblings, me, DH and kids 3 & 6.
It is Bank Holiday so most places are busy and I was wondering if anyone knew of any little gems rather than the usual big trafford centre type things?
Many thanks

Cheshire ice cream farm/Chester zoo/blue planet aquarium.

There's lots of lovely places to go for long walks. We'll probably be going to Delamere forest at some point today or tomorrow.

I generally try to avoid places like the Trafford centre, cheshire oaks etc on a bank holiday because it's chaos.

Crocky Trail,Chester Zoo.

Avoid the m56 westbound, it crawls with traffic going to north Wales in bank holidays.

Delamere forest is lovely for walks with a gruffalo trail depending on the ages of children, lots of good pubs nearby for lunch or take a picnic.

Chester itself, walk the walls, Deva museum, boat on the river.

Tatton Park if you are into NT.

Quarry Bank Mill or Dunham Massey? Considerably closer to Manc than Chester but lovely days out (both National Trust). Or Tatton Park?

Closer to Manchester than Chester would be better. All those Chester places we have been loads of times!

Look at treasurertrail.com
. You can get them for Nantwich, Northwich, Chester, Liverpool, Manchester. We've done several. Really interesting and really fun for everyone!

See if either of these are open on a bank holiday:

  • Ordsall Hall (near Salford Quays)
  • Salford Museum and Art Gallery
