No, it was shown in full.

I was just about to start a thread about this film, having just watched it for the first time in a few years, and been reminded how brilliant it was. I really enjoyed it, there are so many funny moments, it's a real feel good movie.

They must have had so much fun making this film, especially the final scene. Apparently they really did bare all to get the authentic audience reaction. I would have loved to be there in that audience. The Full Monty is a British classic.

Bunnybigears · 25/05/2019 23:59

Oh it must have been earlier in the film than I remembered, was it not after Lompers mum died? I also love the film having loved in Sheffield when I was younger it was actually very believable.

I’ve just watched this, great film.

I was trying to remember what else Dave was in and was surprised to find he was also Robert Baratheon in Game of Thrones.

MrsGarethSouthgate · 26/05/2019 00:00

@Bunnybigears It was near the beginning when Dave helps by fixing the car's engine, not paying attention to the hosepipe through the window.

I'm wondering if you're thinking about the scene in Brassed Off instead?

Nat6999 · 26/05/2019 00:00

They haven't cut any of it out, I'm sat watching it on iPlayer now. Coming from the home of the Full Monty, it's a ritual watching it when it's on.

BlackToothpaste · 26/05/2019 00:05

No, Lumper’s suicide attempt is the first time we meet him.

ineedaholidaynow · 26/05/2019 00:08

They all look so young

Bunnybigears · 26/05/2019 00:09

I think I'm suffering from my common affliction of watching a film without actually watching the film. DH tells me off for it all the time

It’s brilliant Grin some parts of it are so dated now. Drives home how different things are to 20 years ago - smoking everywhere, using phone boxes etc.

freshstartnewme · 26/05/2019 00:13

I noticed the cigarette advert on the shop window - £2.25 (or .55?) anyway, for 20 fags!

TapasForTwo · 26/05/2019 00:15

A load of us from work went to see it at the cinema (I work in Sheffield). We were so excited that the Asda scenes were filmed in "our" Asda, next door to our workplace.

Shouldbedoing · 26/05/2019 00:15

Stayed up later than planned as it was so enjoyable. Robert Baratheon, eh!

theluckiest · 26/05/2019 00:15

Claim to fame...I met Robert Carlyle once. Was at drama school & he came to do a q&a with us students.

I can confirm 3 things:

  1. He is v tiny.
  2. He is one of the loveliest people ever & bought all of us a pint (& gave me a kiss...swoon Grin)
  3. The cast of the Full Monty did, indeed, do the full monty for real. They only did it once and got absolutely wasted beforehand. Brilliant.
GreenDragon75 · 26/05/2019 00:30

Just watched it too. First time in ages and had forgotten how brilliant it is. Dd loved it as well. As well as the fags the wages on offer - £2.50 an hour!

lavtriesagain · 26/05/2019 00:36

I love this film, I could watch it every day and not get bored. DH really doesn’t like it

AliciaMayEmory · 26/05/2019 00:40

I was an extra in the two club scene in this film! Had no idea what I was turning up to. I was told it was about welders! Grin And I can confirm that they absolutely did do the full monty!

I've just woken up and my first thought was about how much I enjoyed the Full Monty on telly last night. A brilliant film, so funny, great characters, a bit dated(who cares) but still so relevant. Elderly parents, unemployment, suicide, divorce, poverty, recovery, possibilities, bravery....so many outstanding scenes, the brass band playing the stripper song at practice, the police all piling in to see the show, their families reactions and how proud they were of all of them.....Wondered if I could tell anyone on Mumsnet and here you all are. Thanks OP
