And were you disappointed/outraged/etc?

Watching Pretty in Pink with prom aged dd.

Wow, Andie was a bit of a bitch (and not as likeable as i remember!), film SO much more risqué than I recall, John Cryer SO camp! Annie Potts still amazing! Well done to John Hughes for addressing white poverty. Will absolutely fucking NOT be watch The Breakfast Club of 16 Candles with her though! 😲

The Goonies.i loved it a kid and still do. They however thought it was shit .

whatthewhatthewhat · 25/05/2019 20:13

I STILL can't watch the Goonies, the big eared guy scared me too much (not PC to say probably)

The Princess Bride.

I think I still like it more than they do.

Sparklingbrook · 25/05/2019 20:18

Pretty in Pink winds me up now. Two reasonably ok dresses taken apart and used to make one hideous dress. Blane was a massive drip and Duckie was overly obsessed. James Spader was gorgeous though.

My teens have watched Breakfast Club, and they love Ferris Buellers Day Off.

My two favourites are St Elmo's Fire and About Last Night but don't think they would appeal plus don't want to watch sex scenes with them. Grin

whatthewhatthewhat · 25/05/2019 20:21

@TheBullshitGoesOn I've never seen The Princess Bride because IMDB was hacked when I went to watch it with DD and they described it as a porno! 🤣🤣

@Sparklingbrook ok I'm, right! Her dress was horrible! She was/is gorgeous though!

Matilda, youngest ds loved it as much as I do. Oldest ds isn't really into films.

Quellium · 25/05/2019 20:23

The Princess Bride - they loved it and quote it all the time.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off - loved it.

Never Been Kissed - this felt uncomfortable to me viewing at my age. Student - Teacher relationship a bit squicky. I adored this film as a teenager!

Grease is always a bit of an eye opener when you rewatch! Grin

Drogosnextwife · 25/05/2019 20:25

Dp shows them more films. Like the goonies, little rascals, 3 ninjas and a few more. I don't like any of them.

C0untDucku1a · 25/05/2019 20:26

The Princess Bride. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to did.
The Goonies. Had to switch it off as ds was scared of Sloth.
H.R. Puffinstuff. They loved that one! Jack Wild and Mama Cass.

whatthewhatthewhat · 25/05/2019 20:27

Grease? Lol, yes, OMG, NO!

You know that it ain't shit, we'll be gettin' lots of tit, greased lightnin'
Go go go, go go go go go go go go
Go, greased lightnin', you're burnin' up the quarter mile
(Greased lightnin', go, greased lightnin')
Go, greased lightnin', you're coasting through the heat lap trials
Greased lightnin', go, greased lightnin')
You are supreme, the chicks'll cream, for greased lightnin'

Quellium

Yes to grease being an eye opener! I bloody loved it when I was younger.

BiBiBirdie · 25/05/2019 20:28

Mannequin and Batteries Not Included with DS (10). He absolutely loved Mannequin. DH was unimpressed that it's now introduced him to 80s power ballads from 80s films.
DD watched The Labyrinth with me and I genuinely thought she would hate it but she actually rather enjoyed it. She loved Clueless but now keeps shouting "as if" every ten minutes so I'm slightly regretting that.
Neither liked ET though.

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 25/05/2019 20:29

I was late to Princess Bride (didn't see it til my 20s), but we have watched it and all love it.

Back to the Future, Holy Grail, Groundhog Day (maybe not teen - too late?). I need to watch Ferris Bueller with them.

We also watched all of Blackadder.

sluj · 25/05/2019 20:30

My DC loved the Goonies, the Breakfast Club and Stand by Me. Now they are older teens they also like a David Lean epic, like Lawrence of Arabia or Dr Zhivago

whatthewhatthewhat · 25/05/2019 20:30

Back to the future - incest! Wtf were these 80s ppl on! Lol

My mam took me to see this when I was seven. I bloody loved it. Watched it repeatedly and then one day, when I was about thirteen, I actually realised what all the bits I'd missed were about...Shock

FriedEggsAndMushrooms · 25/05/2019 20:32

Gremlins
The lost boys
Heathers

KittensinaBlender · 25/05/2019 20:33

Back to the Future - They liked it but we’re outraged at Biff assaulting his mum in the car (and it was a lot more risqué than I remembered).

Home Alone - loves.

The Princess Bride - disappointingly they were not that fussed.

Willow - enjoyed it.

Labyrinth - mixed reviews.

ForeverFaithless · 25/05/2019 20:34

bill and ted's excellent adventures
Indiana Jones
Life of Brian - I to skip over some of the naked stuff!!

Drogosnextwife · 25/05/2019 20:34

I loved never been kissed and legally blonde. My ds's won't entertain either of them.
Also most Disney films.

Drogosnextwife · 25/05/2019 20:35

Willow!!! I forgot about willow. I have it in dvd in the cupboard. Guess what the kids ate watching tonight 😂

EdWinchester · 25/05/2019 20:36

The Lost Boys - horribly dated but still a great watch.

Drogosnextwife · 25/05/2019 20:36

They both love home alone 1 and 2. They were dps suggestions. The grin h was another favourite of mine that ds 2 loved.
