Milton Keynes to Newcastle Question

ConfusedandContrary · 25/05/2019 19:50

I know that there's no guarantee but if I left Milton Keynes at midnight on a coach would I be likely to make it to Newcastle for 5am?

Apologies for the stupid question but I have very little sense of time or direction and I'm not familiar with either place.

TIA

Can you Google the departure and arrival times?

starzig · 25/05/2019 19:57

Unlikely. It's 5hrs in a car.

Oldraver · 25/05/2019 20:01

No, your looking at 6 hrs ish on a coach

RagingWhoreBag · 25/05/2019 20:01

National Express says 5hr 30 mins for some direct journeys, (up to 8 hrs if not direct) so its almost possible but not quite, and depends entirely on which day you went as to whether the direct coach is available. Train is usually quicker, can you do that instead?

Kittykatmacbill · 25/05/2019 20:03

Can you not look at the timetable? National express timetables implies 6 hours though.

RagingWhoreBag · 25/05/2019 20:04

There are some trains that make it in 4.5 hours but they tend to be in the daytime, night time ones usually stop more often so up to 9 hours. Why so specific?

Horsemad · 25/05/2019 20:06

London to Newcastle is about 3hrs on the train if that helps.

ConfusedandContrary · 25/05/2019 20:21

Thank you all. It's so specific because I'll be leaving a concert on the coach at midnight. I have to return to Glasgow and I don't want to spend anymore time hanging about than necessary in Milton Keynes . I'm stopping at Newcastle because that's as far as the coach goes. I can get the train but it means I have to find somewhere to spend time for a few hours early morning, but it looks like it's necessary.

What time is your train to Glasgow?

ConfusedandContrary · 25/05/2019 20:35

The train is at 9:15

There's no timetable as the Big Green Coach Company won't give arrival times.

So you're going to have a but of a wait at Newcastle for your train. Wonder if there are any all night cafés where you could go?

AngelOfDeathNix · 25/05/2019 21:18

Have you considered the coach to Luton airport and flying back?

ConfusedandContrary · 25/05/2019 21:22

I'll probably go to McDonalds, but checking to see if there are any cafes too is a good idea.

OP posts:
ConfusedandContrary · 25/05/2019 21:25

I haven't considered flying, but I'll look into that. Thank you.

When you get to central station at Newcastle if you come out of the station and walk up into the centre of town (look for the statue of a man balancing on his elbow!) there’s a 24 hour McDonalds up that road, it’s only about a 3 min walk from the station.

PotteringAlong · 25/05/2019 21:29

You could get the train direct from Milton Keynes to Glasgow?

Can you not get a coach from Newcastle to Glasgow? Where does the coach drop you off in Newcastle?

ConfusedandContrary · 25/05/2019 21:34

The plan was to get a coach but it seems that I won't make it for the 5:25 one, so I'll have to hang about either way. I'm having issues with the MegaBus site which won't allow me to input the bloody date so I can't see their times.

OP posts:
ConfusedandContrary · 25/05/2019 21:36

I'll check that again PotteringAlong, thank you. Hoping to pay as little as possible but it might be worth the extra. Thank you all so much for your help. I appreciate it.

Try Megabus; my step daughter uses it frequently and it's cheap yet reliable. You'd be looking at about 6 and a half hours on a coach.

ConfusedandContrary · 25/05/2019 22:18

Thank you, MrsP. I'll check MegaBus again once their site is working for me.
