Car smells of burning plastic

Bought a new car today (second hand but quite new and low mileage/ good condition). Drove it home and there is a definite smell of warm or burning plastic. Any ideas? No warning lights or concerns.

Could it be a plastic bag wrapped around something underneath? Some parts like the drive shaft abd exhaust system get really hot and a plastic bag would melt abd stick to it, then smell like burning every time it was driven.

Ooh good grief I never even thought about something that simple! How would I know? Crawl half under with a mirror?

I bought a (brand) new car recently and was alarmed to smell burning plastic when I got home. It wore off pretty quickly.

Google it - there are lots of reassuring answers Smile

So the consensus is that I shouldn't phone in floods of tears tomorrow panicking that my car is a dud?

My car did this a while back. Plastic bag in/around the exhaust.
