Has anyone managed to cure their gut dysbiosis/SIBO?
If so, how?

Thanks :)

Simply put OP, no! The consultant recommended me a specific antibiotic but it isn't available on the NHS so isn't feasible; he legitimately advised I pop over to Greece or similar for a holiday and buy it over the counter....I was a bit miffed; we aren't all on 60k+ a year are we.

I was also advised that otherwise you need to completely cut out sugar, fully adjust the diet and use some pretty specific and high dose prebiotics (pricey) such as symprove.

I found the thing that helped the most was a supplement called Atrantil, made specially for treating SIBO. I couldn't afford to keep taking it daily though

Symprove didn't help mine at all. I've also had 2 courses of Rifaxamin and a course of Neomycin which helped for a few days but then back to square one

CustardD123 · 26/05/2019 21:23

Thank you both :)

@UpTheLaganInABubble How did you get Rifaxamin? I asked my GP about this and she said it wasn't available in the UK.

It is available, but only via a consultant, GPs can't prescribe it here in NI. I think it varies from place to place within the UK but it is definitely available on the NHS

@dontgobaconmyheart what was the name of the antibiotic if you remember?

Ah right thanks UpTheLaganInABubble
