Anyone else having a shit Saturday?

Just came on to have a whinge. It's not even 10.30am and already I am completely fed up.

Toddler ds woke me at 5.45, got up came downstairs , bent down to pick something up and crashed my head on the mantelpiece (so hard it dented the bloody shelf!!) not long after ds headbutted me.

Had to do the weekly shop and it was spent with ds screaming the whole way around. He then didn't want to get back in the car so had to try and wrestle him in for about ten minutes.

Got back decided to put some toast on for us, a couple of minutes later I walk into the kitchen to see the toaster is on fire. Managed to put it out and luckily ds was in the other room. The cause was a teething granules sachet had fallen into it and had obviously set on fire when I turned it on.

The house looks a state already, dh is working till half seven both today and tomorrow, ds is grumpy because he's tired and I'm just fed up :( wish I was at work!

Oh, ouch! I'm sorry you are having such a difficult day Flowers

Socksontheradiator · 25/05/2019 10:45

If it makes you feel any better, i once left my son's lunch box on top of the eye level grill. We had flames and a lot of melted plastic!

tiedy · 25/05/2019 10:49

Oh no I hope your day improves!
It's nearly 8pm here in Australia and I've had a shit Saturday. DH is being grumpy and unbearable. Both my kids have colds. My youngest didn't nap so was tired and kept having tantrums. He stuck his fingers into a pie that was fresh out of the oven and burnt them.

Kittykat93 · 25/05/2019 10:50

@Socksontheradiator thank you Smile I have never set anything alight before it really frightened me! Hoping after ds has a nap at lunchtime he will be a bit happier and we will have a nice afternoon....wishful thinking

Omg how is your head?!

Lower your expectations massively for the next few hours: tea, biscuits, tv. Start the day again in the afternoon.

Poor you, sounds exhausting.
Any friends with young kids nearby? When my DDs were small and difficult, and we had those awful kinds of days, I would find a nearby friend with similar aged children, and we'd just get together and commiserate...

Kittykat93 · 25/05/2019 11:07

I do have a throbbing headache but I'm hoping to have an hours lie down when ds has a nap later so hopefully that will help.

I have arranged to see some friends tomorrow with their kids, it's just today I need to get through alone! I don't have any family apart from dh so it's hard when he works all weekend. Such a lovely day out there aswell I should be enjoying myself!
