WWYD sickness bug and holiday!!

DD was sick in the car on Sunday. She gets travel sick so we put it down to that but then had lots of diarrhoea for the following day so we kept her off school.

Anyway, DD2 was sick last night and then this morning had diarrhoea. Exactly how it happened with DD1.

We are meant to be going on holiday tomorrow. It's only a caravan holiday a few hours away. DD1 is desperately excited for the holiday and has been counting down to it. DD2 had seemed much better this afternoon & evening. I did give her some fairly bland food at tea time as she said she was hungry so I'm guessing her tummy wasn't ready for it. She seemed absolutely fine again after being sick and has done a solid bowel movement also.

Can we still go on holiday? They're both going to be heartbroken tomorrow if we postpone leaving and have to cut it short. This is their only holiday this year 😩

Yes go. They should be fine now. It's always possible you might get it but if you aren't far away then you can always come home. Have a nice time.

I would leave it until late morning at least, and be prepared to go a day later if you're not sure, or plan to travel in the evening. Getting caught short with diarrhoea on a car journey of several hours is pretty awful.

Also bear in mind the 48h rule in terms of keeping her away from other people and communal toilet blocks.

Meant to add, stomach bugs often have a very short incubation period so I wouldn't be particularly confident that her illness is the same one that DD1 had.

DD2 is sleeping now and hasn't been sick again (touch wood)! Really hoping we can make it there. I'll try to keep her away from other children so no swimming etc and maybe just have her out at the beach/parks etc for a couple of days at the start.

She's only 2 and wears nappies for nap time/bed time so I'll probably pop a nappy on her for in the car since she'll most likely sleep and will also save us having any poo accidents that may happen in her pants.

Really hope she's okay once she's awake 🙏🏼
