Anyone wearing contact lenses atm?

Mine are really irritating atm. I'm wondering if pollen can get under them?

Possibly. I have hay fever and my lenses are always trickier to put in and take out during hay fever time. I'm too stubborn to wear my glasses tho Blush

Purpleartichoke · 24/05/2019 18:40

Lots of eye drops. I won’t give up my contacts. Hate glasses with the fire of 1000 suns.

Itwouldtakemuchmorethanthis · 24/05/2019 18:42

Take them out, soak them and put them back?

Yep I refuse to wear my glasses. Never been like this before though.

Are they stinging or feeling uncomfortable like they are rubbing?

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 24/05/2019 18:46

Mine are okay, and my hay fever is fierce!

Does it feel like they are rubbing? Do they sting?

Eminybob · 24/05/2019 18:47

I’m having a shit time with mine atm. I’m in the process of getting some decent glasses so I can wear them less.

Have you had a baby recently or currently pregnant? My optician says that’s why mine are irritated, something to do with hormones making my eyes dry (I have a 6 month old and they have been bad since he was born but I hadn’t connected the dots)

Eminybob · 24/05/2019 18:51

Oh and if they are scratching because of dryness, try warm compresses 10 minutes a day.

Jasquers · 24/05/2019 18:52

Yes! Think it's pollen. Feels like grit in my eyes and I'm never normally bothered by my lenses at all

Mari50 · 24/05/2019 18:56

Probably a better idea to go to your optometrist and get a check up if your contact lenses aren’t comfortable.
Could be lots of reasons for discomfort and if it’s hayfever then there are drops that can be prescribed to ease the symptoms but it could be a myriad of issues and asking unqualified fellow wearers online isn’t going to solve your problem. And neither is continuing to wear your lenses when they are uncomfy.....

RubberTreePlant · 24/05/2019 19:16

I alwayd switch to glasses in the hayfever season now. Life's too short to be vain and in pain.

rosy71 · 24/05/2019 19:18

Yes. My eyes are really itchy atm and making my lenses feel uncomfortable.

RobinHumphries · 24/05/2019 19:26

it could simply be Meibomian gland dysfunction where the glands that leak oil into the tears get blocked so the tears evaporate too quickly and the eye is too dry. My optician advises a warm wet cotton wool pad and then to gently apply downward pressure to the eyelid

yellowalstroemeria · 24/05/2019 19:31

Mine are driving me insane just now.

I switched to daily disposables and I'm finding them much more uncomfortable than my previous monthly disposables, although they're much better price wise.

cakeandchampagne · 24/05/2019 19:32

Call your optometrist. They might tell you which drops would be best for you, or they might want to see you.
Don’t rub your eyes!

WorriedMami · 24/05/2019 19:49

Take them out, rinse and put back in. Mine always need a rinse after 10 mins of wearing, but the. Are fine for the day. I have gas permeables and they are better at protecting my eyes than the daily ones in high hayfever season, and infinitely better than wearing only glasses.

user123454321 · 24/05/2019 21:28

@yellowalstroemeria daily ones are cheaper?Hmm
I do think it's pollen from what some of you are saying. Had them checked last week and they fit fine. Rubbing my eyes prob doesn't help then!

@Jasquers 'feels like grit' - exactly!

OP posts:
yellowalstroemeria · 24/05/2019 21:36

daily ones are cheaper?

For me they are, as I don't wear my lenses every day now. My monthly disposables were £240 a year and now I'm paying £60 a year for daily disposables.
