What would be a great show to take my niece for her 9th birthday?

Just that, really. Birthday is in July so would like to take her during the summer holidays. They live just outside London so West End is an easy distance.

What have your 9 year-olds loved? My niece loves The Greatest Showman and Strictly Come Dancing - the more sparkles the better!

Matilda and Horrible Histories went down very well with my 9 year old niece. x

SunnyDaysShadyCorners · 24/05/2019 17:35

Aladdin is great - as is Matilda, but Aladdin has more sparkles!

Hairyheadphones · 24/05/2019 17:36

Matilda

BlueMerchant · 24/05/2019 17:38

MrsWilkinsonAthome · 24/05/2019 17:40

Def Mathilda

Starwanderers · 24/05/2019 17:40

DC7 loved Matilda!

nancy75 · 24/05/2019 17:44

Agree with Matilda, Dd wasn’t so keen on Aladdin but it’s still good

ShoesJerry · 24/05/2019 17:48

My 9 year old has loved Matilda, Aladdin and Wicked.

Hairyheadphones · 24/05/2019 17:49

Joseph starts in June, that may be a good choice.

I recently saw Wicked (very good) and School of rock (enjoyable and cheaper than most shows). Matilda is still my favourite!

joebtfsplks · 24/05/2019 17:50

Matilda or Wicked. Aladdin really just a glorified panto
Matilda really is excellent, she will love that I'm sure! My DD is also 9, we took her last summer

BarkandCheese · 24/05/2019 17:51

Wicked or Matilda, both fab shows.

Perch · 24/05/2019 18:01

Lion King or Matilda

ElizabethinherGermanGarden · 24/05/2019 18:56

Brilliant, thanks. I was thinking of Wicked - just wanted to hear it was suitable. I'm now tempted by Joseph, though. That one way my favourite when I was a young'un.

My dd loved Wicked and School of Rock was absolutely fantastic too.

Muddlingalongalone · 24/05/2019 18:59

My 8 yo preferred Matilda to Wicked.
Lion King was fantastic! She would love to see Mamma Mia.

ihearttc · 24/05/2019 19:53

School of Rock is amazing!

Singleandproud · 24/05/2019 19:56

Aladdin, get the slip seats if you can they say the view is obstructed but it really isn’t and the tickets are much cheaper. THE Seats are movable, loads of leg space and are at the same height as the magic carpet when it rises.

ElizabethinherGermanGarden · 24/05/2019 20:30

That's a great tip!
