What do you watch when you need a bloody good cry?

For me it's Mamma Mia Here We Go Again. Cheesy, huh? But oh so cathartic. Abba comes on, the cat and the kids scarper, grab a wine, and off we go. . .

I agree with Coco! What a lovely film that was.

SunsetBunny · 24/05/2019 19:28

Another one for The Notebook! Watched it years and years ago, but remember that I couldn’t stop crying for about 2 hours afterwards!

Charles11 · 24/05/2019 19:29

Genuine question - why do you need a good cry? I don’t generally cry and associate it with being utterly miserable so don’t understand why someone would want to feel like that?
Why wouldn’t you do something to cheer yourself up instead?

freshstartnewme · 24/05/2019 19:36

Scott and Charlene's wedding Blush

redcarbluecar · 24/05/2019 19:37

@Charles11, I think a cry can sometimes be cathartic. I have a photo album type thing with messages in it from my parents which always makes me cry, and I sometimes get it out deliberately for that reason.
I don't know what I'd watch to make myself cry though. Maybe that bit in the Office where Tim and Dawn finally get together. Smile

Just been bawling at Emmerdale Sad

JaneJeffer · 24/05/2019 19:39

Charles crying is good for you!

mbosnz · 24/05/2019 19:40

Because it can be a really good release of emotions - both happy and sad!

Terms of Endearment.

The Railway Children.

Brief Encounter.

Kpo58 · 24/05/2019 20:05

Genuine question - why do you need a good cry?

It can be a release of pressure and stress that you can't shift in other ways. You feel much better afterwards.

GillBiggeloesHair · 24/05/2019 20:08

Brief Encounter.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 24/05/2019 20:11

Anything with children giving a performance. It's the applause at the end.

The film which I was awful at fairly recently was the live action Beauty and the Beast. It was the music and everybody being reunited at the end. It was really embarrassing, but I just couldn't stop!

mizu · 24/05/2019 20:19

Stand by me - love it but can barely watch it.

JakeChambers · 24/05/2019 20:22

DIY SOS is a guaranteed tear jerker for me.

I cried my eyes out at Call Me By Your Name and am saving a rewatch for when I need a good wail!
