What do you watch when you need a bloody good cry?

For me it's Mamma Mia Here We Go Again. Cheesy, huh? But oh so cathartic. Abba comes on, the cat and the kids scarper, grab a wine, and off we go. . .

I've never thought about this before but A Dogs Purpose came to mind.

mbosnz · 24/05/2019 17:49

OMG, my daughter made me watch A Dog's Purpose - with no warning!!! And she KNOWS what I'm like!

Steel Magnolias - not sure I could watch that again yet!

(Can you see why I normally watch action adventures?)

Father of the Bride with Steve martin is my go to film when I am feeling low and sorry for myself. It makes me happy cry and I really love it.

Also The Notebook. I first watched it as a teenager and sobbed my heart out. I still cry now watching it.

mbosnz · 24/05/2019 17:52

I think I'd better watch The Notebook. . .

The Champ!

Beetle76 · 24/05/2019 17:56

Now is Good
The Fault in our Stars
Cringeworthy but if I really need a cry: Dawson’s Creek finale.

ValleyoftheHorses · 24/05/2019 17:57

The Notebook, Steel Magnolias, Toy Story 3, Schindler’s list

showmethegin · 24/05/2019 18:15

@Justathinslice Spot on with the end of Juno, it gets me every single time!

lboogy · 24/05/2019 18:18

Truly Madly Deeply

IJustLostTheGame · 24/05/2019 18:21

Can't watch 'Watership down' or 'grave of the fireflies'. They are too blubworthy.
Judi Dench reduced me to tears in Cranford. In a good way.
The end of the Railway Children (MY DADDY!!! OH MY DADDY!!!)
The Fault In Our Stars
The end of The Tale of Two Cities when she says 'goodbye'
When mummy elephant rocks baby dumbo and he is sad because he wants his mummy
International Velvet. 'It was The Pie's last foal'

I blub a lot to films

PlinkPlink · 24/05/2019 18:25

Green Mile has me in bits every time.

RightOnTheEdge · 24/05/2019 18:32

The fault in our stars
The Notebook broke me. I was distraught. I have never felt like watching it again!
The beginning of Up always brings a lump to my throat.

nc100 · 24/05/2019 18:35

Sliding Doors

FlaviaAlbia · 24/05/2019 18:46

A river runs through it. I simultaneously love it and can't watch it.

TerribleTwosPhase · 24/05/2019 18:47

Beaches or me before you

jackstini · 24/05/2019 18:49

I have to see the Notebook it seems...

Armageddon
Anne of Green Gables
Mamma Mia (slipping through my fingers gets me every time!) 😭
Titanic (the old couple, the mum reading to her children)

mbosnz · 24/05/2019 19:08

I've just remembered I truly upset DH who treated me to business class, Christchurch to Sydney. I watched Les Miserable, and bawled all the way there, sobbing into me champers. You can't take me anywhere.

The end of homeward bound when the two dogs and the cat come running over the hill!! And titanic Grin

MsSquiz · 24/05/2019 19:16

Since my DM died, it's any film we used to watch together:
Sound of music - we would belt out every song louder than the TV
Wizard of Oz - her favourite film
Mamma Mia - the "slipping through my fingers" scene as she died 3 months before my wedding
Steel Magnolias
Beaches

MrsGrannyWeatherwax · 24/05/2019 19:18
