How long would you expect to be off work with a trapped nerve in your back?

Have you sought medical advice or is this self diagnosed?
If you have sought medical advice, what was their prognosis ?

BabySoupDragonsMummy · 24/05/2019 13:07

No, there has been medical advice sought and it has been diagnosed. I have been recommended by a friend that I have been told to have too long off. So just wondering what the average recovery period is.

It depends how compressed your disc is - anything from a few hours to several months

UnicornBrexit · 24/05/2019 13:08

That would depend on the severity of the injury?

I took the Thursday off before a long weekend so had Thurs-Monday off, in all honestly I should’ve gone off at the start of that week but I carried on (I was going to write soldier on but that implies I was anything but a bloody idiot...which I was!).

It was suggested by the doctor I take 2w off then see how I’m going but I completely ignored him and thought I knew best. I’m still struggling now and genuinely think if I had listened and took the full 2w off instead of going back to a physical job then I’d be much further down the road to recovery

Thank you. I shall ignore the comments! And take the time off recommended without feeling (too) guilty.
