Connections and Jobs on LinkedIn

How many of you have actually made connections and had links which have led you to jobs / referrals on Linked In? I seem to acquire connections but few if any have led to any concrete job prospects despite conversations on the platform. So many of my connections are either present or past colleagues anyway, but so far very few claim to have any idea if there are jobs in my field (STEM). I am connected to a few recruitment people, but again they appear to be superficial in their interests.

Any Linked In success stories?

No I am not affiliated to them, i am thoroughly unimpressed by the algorithms so far but want to be hopeful Grin

I get loads of connection requests from recruitment consultants, but I'm not interested so don't add them. I suppose if I did, then it might lead to a job.

🙋‍♀️ Success story here. Never hurts to have a relevant recruiter on there.

How active are you on LinkedIn OP? Is your profile optimised? You have to post & engage to keep your profile front of mind.
About 60% of my work has come via LinkedIn but my area is digital marketing.

I work in a jobcenter. One of our clients put out an 'i can do xyz and am looking for new opportunities' and got 3 coffee meetings from it. I dont know if that led to anything but I like the odds.

I work in IT and get regular approaches from recruiters with posts. I’m not marked as open to offers and don’t add recruiters as connections. My role is in demand though. I’ve interviewed for two posts this way

That's reassuring @LookImAHooman , well done. I think that I have to connect to more recruitment specialists and ones in my field.

I think that I'm quite active @DownToTheSeaAgain, I don't post "news" or company info, but I have communicated with recruiters and have adjusted my profile so that it is public. Lots of recruiters seem to fall silent after a short while, and I have connected to them (and shared my CV and personal info with them), but they seem quite fleeting/ change jobs quite quickly.

I have said that I am 'looking for a new opportunity' in my field @redexpat , but I'm trying to be discrete so that my current colleagues are none the wiser. Maybe my profile is conflicting.

I have. I got a 50% payrise in the process too.
