Houseplant help! WhAt is this on my plant?

I have a chrysalidocarpus lutescens from ikea which is my one foray into the world of houseplant owning and, despite living a rather neglected life for the past 6 months, is going fairly strong!

I have been watering and spraying it today though and noticed lots of little white elongated blobs (probably each less than a mm long) all over one of the leave stems. I have attempted a picture but it's rubbish as I can't seem to get them to focus.

Does anyone know what this is and do I need to treat it? Am I going to end up with millions of creatures flying about my house???

Looking at that picture it is fair to say that I may have exaggerated slightly when I said it was still "going strong". Poor thing

I can't quite tell from the photo; could they be mealybugs?

I would pop it outside until the man wearing spiders hatch and run away
