Terribly sad news. Her books have given me and my children a huge amount of pleasure. Absolutely amazing woman.

I loved the Mog books. My dc still can't read Goodbye Mog, because it makes them so sad.

shumway · 23/05/2019 10:39

I went to see her at a literary festival a few years ago. She was so lovely.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 23/05/2019 10:40

Oh that is very sad. Mog remains a firm family favourite. She brought pleasure to so many families and was truly inspiring.

Seeline · 23/05/2019 10:40

'Tiger Tea" as it is known in our house was my favourite as a child and was my DCs favourites too.
We even managed to answer a question on Only Connect last series!

SpanishTiles · 23/05/2019 10:41

I just read Mog and the Baby and Katinka's Tail to my 4yo dd last night. Thank you for all of your lovely books Judith! Flowers

CMOTDibbler · 23/05/2019 10:42

The Tiger who came to Tea is one of my favourite books ever, and I adore Mog. Judith, you'll be sadly missed

bookworm14 · 23/05/2019 10:43

Oh I’m so sad to hear this. She was an extraordinary woman.

howwudufeel · 23/05/2019 10:43

I love her books. RIP Judith.

MirandaWest · 23/05/2019 10:44

Oh that is sad. When DS was little, we used to read the Tiger who came to Tea every night.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 23/05/2019 10:46

Oh how sad. I loved When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit, Bombs on Aunt Dainty & A Small Person Far Away in my early teens. They were the books that really got me in to reading. My dc all love the Mog books.

TwinsTrollsandHunz · 23/05/2019 10:50

Ahhh, her Mog books were lovely.

nauticant · 23/05/2019 10:53

Oh, that is sad. I saw her at an event at the British Library in December and she was on good form. At least she kept doing her thing up till the end.

zippey · 23/05/2019 10:57

The tiger who came to tea and the smog books are great. Goodbye Judith.

Clawdy · 23/05/2019 11:19

Lovely person who wrote such wonderful unforgettable books.

TailsoftheManyPaws · 23/05/2019 11:23

'Mog was tired. She was dead tired… Mog thought, ‘I want to sleep for ever.’ And so she did. But a little bit of her stayed awake to see what would happen next.'

Goodbye Judith, who made the world a better place.

Zoeputthatdown · 23/05/2019 11:24

We loved her books.
"When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit" is still one of my all time favourites.

Lovely lady. Flowers

LIZS · 23/05/2019 11:26

Sad The Mog books were a big part of dc childhood. One resilient lady, goodbye Judith.

bibbitybobbityyhat · 23/05/2019 11:27

Sad ... but she was 95, and has left a great legacy.

LimeKiwi · 23/05/2019 11:31

Just seen in the news, and feel really sad Sad
Such a huge part of my childhood, The Tiger Who Came To Tea was my favourite book as a child and my children's too.
RIP Judith, you made so many happy childhood memories

happypotamus · 23/05/2019 11:32

Sad that's sad. Her books are wonderful. I love reading Mog stories and The Tiger Who Came To Tea. It's true that she lived a long and fulfilled life and has left a wonderful legacy.

AbsintheFriends · 23/05/2019 11:32

She has a special place in my heart because a thread about The Tiger Who Came To Tea was the first one I ever posted on on MN, in 2003.

I'd lurked before that, but I couldn't believe that all these articulate, funny, clever women were discussing the thoughts I had no one to talk to about as I read to my young children. (Was Sophie's mummy on the gin? What did the tiger represent? Could you still get tights like that?)

Thank you Judith, for the tiger and for plunging me into the vipers' nest.

Thatsnotmyname4291 · 23/05/2019 11:32

What sad news. Such a great author.

She was very cool. When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit and sequels are brilliant.

missclimpson · 23/05/2019 11:34

So sad to read this, she was an inspirational woman. When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit is my favourite book of all time. Such an amazing life.
