Terribly sad news. Her books have given me and my children a huge amount of pleasure. Absolutely amazing woman.

The Sainsbury's Mog and book was the last Christmas present my dad bought me so this news has made me a little sad

The Story Centre at Stratford are currently running a little Mog and Tiger that Came to Tea exhibition, it’s lovely.

I don’t think it’s sad. Wonderful lady, joyous books that enriched millions, long, happy, fulfilled personal life. I’d be very content indeed with that. Moment to celebrate a life well lived, not to be sad.

DD 4 calls "Goodbye Mog" "Mog is Dead". I like to think JK would have been amused.

Goodbye Mog made me cry in the bookshop. What a wonderful writer.

@Langrish
I'm very sad, because of all the other children she represented. Her wonderful book Creatures is dedicated to all the children who never grew up and all the pictures they could have drawn. It's chilling to think that Anne Frank was her age and could be alive today.

She lived an amazing life. My whole family adored the Tiger book. What a brilliant legacy.

I really enjoyed Judith's Q & A interview, coincidentally in the Guardian only last Saturday. She said her guilty pleasure was drinking the dregs of whisky from the night before, and she'd always wished she'd had longer legs! I also liked her idea of Helen Mirren playing her in a film of her life, and hope it might actually happen.

She'd just managed to finish her final book, to be published in June.

Indeed and she made it clear in every interview that those millions were always with her.

I do feel her long life and legacy is something to be joyful about, not sad.
