Please recommend me a great family tent please!

We need a decent tent for us to use as a family...2 adults, 2 kids and trying to choose one is a minefield! Had almost committed to a second hand Oakwell Montana 6p on gumtree but when I went to book it into our local campsite they said it's too big. So I've cancelled the cheque and resuming the search.

Budget would be up to £500 but happy to buy a really decent tent second hand. Please tell me about your fabulous family tents!

There's a camping topic on here OP, they are hugely knowledgable people who will give you excellent advice

For us, we've always used Vango for family tents and never had an issue. If you have a Go Outdoors nearby they have lots of tents set up on display.

We have an outwell vermont. I've never had a problem getting it on sites in England or France but the pitches in Spain are too small. It's a really good family tent. Theres lots of room inside if its raining and you can stand up inside it.

We went with the outwell navada M, with porch extension. Suited us well for a long time and hasn't been too hard to put up. Was nice to be able to decide whether we needed the porch extension or the boot space more on any given trip.

Big downside is that it's 2 bedrooms and now the kids are older they are not happy sharing. At least they are old enough to have their own small tents now though.

I much prefer having all the bedrooms at the back, drove me nuts having one either side as wherever we put stuff it was always in the way of at least one door.
