What’s really good at getting rid of black mould in shower?

Just moved house and need to get rid of black mould in the shower. Have almost gassed myself with various chemicals and as we can’t do up the bathroom yet, I’m hoping for some hacks or products that work!

Dettol mould and mildew remover. Spray and leave for a few hours

HG mould spray, it’s brilliant. You do need to ventilate though, it smells quite strong but really works.

HG is brilliant but really toxic I imagine. However I have not been able to find anything as effective which is environmentally friendly.

Chemicals are only a temporary solution, OP - you need to fix the ventilation problem, or the mould will keep coming back. Does the bathroom have a window? If not, you need to fit a powerful extractor fan to get all the steam and condensation out after each shower or bath.
Any strong bleach will work in the short term, and fungicides for a little longer, but you don’t really want to expose yourself and your DC to those on a regular basis.
Why not get a few free quotes on the cost of a fan? It may be less than you think. DD put one in her bathroom a year ago, and hasn’t seen a spot of mould since.

Astonish mould and mildew is brill

Desmondo2016 · 23/05/2019 09:04

My best ever tip is neat bleach directly onto all the black spots then stick cotton wool to the bleach and leave for an hour or so. It really works. I had about a 90% improvement when I recently moved into my house

The Dettol spray is good.

Dettol mould spray, leave on overnight.

AntiHop · 23/05/2019 09:14

Is this on the grout? If so, soak some pieces of kitchen towel in bleach. Lay them across the areas and leave overnight. Remove and rinse off the next day. You might have to do it a couple of times.

For removal elsewhere, use something with hydrogen peroxide in, as it properly removes mould. I use dettol power and pure.

bleach and an old toothbrush.
