Night away WITH kids

Thinking of going away this weekend as a family. Me, DH and two kids aged 9 & 7. Maybe somewhere on the South/South East Coast for beaches/amusement arcades, but would do inland if there was a decent attraction (might look at Paulton’s Park).

We live in Surrey and don’t want more than a couple of hours in the car. We’ve done Portsmouth and Brighton already.

Accommodation could just be a premier inn or something.

So...any recommendations? Are places like Southend / Bognor worth a visit or are they run down? Are there any pretty beach towns I should consider?

I think you will struggle to find anywhere as it's bank holiday and half term!

Southend is OK. There's nice bits - leigh on sea, particularly, and you can get the train a couple of stops to the theme park on the front and the pier. Leigh has nice cafe s, restaurants and you could look at hiring a beach hut for one of the days. There's some air bnbs locally which would prob be similar price to the holiday inn

Bournemouth is nice but you will be hard pressed to get accommodation at this late notice with it being a bank holiday

It's bank holiday, I would start with finding out what is even available - camping maybe but I doubt premier inns will be anywhere near the coast
