I'm going to a wedding tomorrow and the 2 year old bottle of fake tan in the bathroom seems like a good idea

Please talk me out of it.

I'm envisioning myself as a glowy goddess a stone lighter.

One slathering?

Does it have a use-by date? And is it worth the risk of ending up orange?

CakeNinja · 22/05/2019 18:00

Does it go off? I sort of want to find out by you applying it but would hate for it to go horribly wrong and for you to have to go to the wedding looking tango’d!!

thetaniscalling · 22/05/2019 18:02

It smells all right Confused

I do not want to be orange or worse, streaky. I'd take consistently orange Grin

My dd did similar and ended up looking green (and stinking). Can you see the colour of the tan if it has changed any?
There should be an open jar symbol on the bottle of tan that tells you how long it is good for, hopefully it says 24, any less I’d bin it.

SkunkButtRug · 22/05/2019 18:06

Isn't it meant to smell like vinegar if it's gone off?

Personally, I wouldn't risk it because of the possible colour outcomes! Could you do a patch test somewhere not visible to see?

thetaniscalling · 22/05/2019 18:11

I do not want to be green Shock

It's my legs. They're so pasty!

Mokepon · 22/05/2019 18:12

Step away from the tan and chuck it in the bin.
Nip out if you can and get a new one.

HumptyNumptyNooNoo · 22/05/2019 18:16

Been here and ended up green! Don't do it !

thebabessavedme · 22/05/2019 18:18

a woman walked past me today, my thoughts were, 'oh what a lovely dress, she looks really nic....... wtf is wrong with her legs?' fake tan fail big time, if it had not been for the fake tan all clogged around her heels she would have looked perfect, lovely dress, lovely hair etc, pale legs would not even have registered, it is still only may, after all! Grin

Wurlysurly · 22/05/2019 18:18

I went to use a bottle which was around a year old a couple of weeks ago. I also went green!! Blush I wouldn't risk it

Thumbellini · 22/05/2019 18:19

I used old tan once, it was greenish going on and didn't develop properly. Go and get a new bottle, a mousse one for easy application if nervous. And be a golden glowy goddess!

GoBackToPartyCity · 22/05/2019 18:21

Been there, done that, looked like princess Fiona 😭

Idolikeanicepieceofcake · 22/05/2019 18:22

Get yourself some Sally Hanson Airbrush Legs. If it all goes wrong you can wash it off, no risk of streaks, dries really quickly. I use it in summer when I want to make me legs a little more tanned looking. I love it

thetaniscalling · 22/05/2019 18:23

Okay- green is NOT the look I'm going for Grin

Am retreating from the bottle.

PollyShelby · 22/05/2019 18:23

Do it do it do it

WoogleCone · 22/05/2019 18:26

Ok here's what you do ....

Take the bottle.
Go outside.
Put it in the Wheely bin.

Go back inside and breathe at a disaster well averted! (Have fun at the wedding!)

uncoolnn · 22/05/2019 18:28

Just to echo everyone else, if you don't wish to end up like Shrek in a dress (i.e. green), step away from the old bottle of tan!

AuntieMarys · 22/05/2019 18:31

Oh go on Grin

Iwantacookie · 22/05/2019 18:32

I'm quite disappointed I've never seen a green fake tan fail Grin

Chilledout11 · 22/05/2019 18:33

Sally Hansen is brilliant or rimmel sunshimmer (wash off in light)

thetaniscalling · 22/05/2019 18:34

There are some magnificent green fake tan images on Google. Nearly fecked the bottle out of the window after I saw them Grin

Have you got any cheap foundation? Works brilliantly as an instant fix

Mississippilessly · 22/05/2019 20:36

Could you wear tights for the wedding and then put the tan on afterwards purely for our amusement?
