Remedies for DS blocked nose

I’m not sure what’s going on with DS. He’s 10, had a ‘cold’ for a couple of weeks now. Very snotty but not sneezing, he can’t breathe through his nose. He came home from school early on Monday with a headache and nausea. He’s feeling sick again now. It doesn’t seem enough for a gp appointment but it’s a bit odd.

Any ideas? I think he’s feel better if he could just breathe properly. I’m going to go to the pharmacist tomorrow but thought I’d see if anyone had any treatment suggestions.

Hayfever? Try antihistamine and see if it helps?

A steam. Towel over a bowl of very hot water, a bit if olbas oil in it for he can bear it.

Thank you both. I wondered if it was hay fever but his eyes aren’t itchy. I’ll get some piriton tomorrow and see if that helps. I’ve been putting olbas oil on a tissue inside his pillow case at night, I’ll try a steam tonight.

If you have any lemsip or anything that has pseudoephidrine in that could help open his airways a bit, not great for bedtime (stimulant) but could help in the morning.

If it is hayfever, windows closed, hoover and mop etc will help as well as steaming his heed. Bath with olbas oil.

I only get hayfever some times and not always eyes and nose at the same time, it can be brutal - headaches etc.
