So I've hurt my back and awaiting physio. Dr says I can't lift and so I told work. They want a drs letter explaining it but my issue is who pays for this letter. I don't have £10 for a drs letter. I expect work to pay for it because they need it but they are being awkward. I mentioned the fee and they brushed it off.

I think you need to pay for it unfortunately as you are the one claiming you can't lift, work need a Dr's verification of this.

If your doctor has made recommendations, he should provide you with a fit note. This should outline the restrictions. There shouldn't be a charge for a fit note.

The Dr said there would be a fee apparently. But work say they need for risk assessment etc. The Dr said if they need an official report there would be a fee. I'm thinking it's not just a fit note.

Get a Fit Note and ask the GP to fill in the basic details of the injury and what you can't do.

If they want a full GP report, they can write to him for it and pay.

Are you in the UK? As fit note is usually free from a NHS GP, however I think a letter or report would be chargeable and the fee set by the

A fit note is usually issued first. In order for your employer to obtain a full medical report, you will need to sign a consent form. You will need to give your GP's details to your employer. The consent should also include a section that says if you want to see the report before your employer.

It can take weeks to get the report!
