Disney - birthday

Posting for traffic.

I've only now realised that DD is having her 11th birthday whilst we're in Disney. We've saved 5 years for this so want it to be special.

Her actual birthday falls when we move from Disney to Universal (move hotel locations too). Anyone with birthday experiences whilst there? Any advice?
Thanks.

First things first, you want to let the hotel at Universal know that it’s her birthday. Let them know ahead of time and also again when you check in. You should be given a free birthday button. When we asked for one at the Royal Pacific, we also we got a birthday card with a free drink coupon.
When we stayed at the Hard Rock for my DD’s birthday, she received a special Hard Rock Birthday Pin, voucher for ice cream, and a piece of birthday cake waiting in our room! Some have mentioned getting balloons in their room.
When we first walked into the park, the ticketing staff stopped and announced loudly it was my dd’s birthday, and everyone sang. All day long as we made our way through the park all the staff wished her a happy birthday. It helped make her day special!
It is not 100% guaranteed, but Ollivander has been known to take notice of people wearing a birthday button and choose them for a wand ceremony. It worked for us.

If you're staying in a Disney hotel Mickey Mouse will leave a voicemail on your room phone. They often give out free treats in the park if she wears a birthday badge too - you could do it the day before so she gets 2 celebrations!

Disney is so much fun for a birthday, make sure you get your pin, all cast will usually say happy birthday when they notice it and yup, you'll get a call from mickey. This was DH's birthday btw not a child.
