How good are you at sticking to meal plans?

I often make a meal plan but, then towards the middle of the week I get bored and go off it. I live alone so sometimes I don't have the motivation all the time.

Terrible! We swap days around, we end up with enough leftovers for the next day, DH goes shopping and randomly buys extra stuff we don't need. These days I just buy enough food for about 4 days and somehow it all works out.

I'm pretty good at it, but this is mostly because I can't be arsed to think about what I want to eat every single day. I find it much easier to just make the agonising decision time during one hour on Sunday and then not have to think about it again for a week :P

My mum's the total opposite. Improv maniac, she can't stick to a meal plan at all!

I never do a weekly food plan, I have a rough idea but plans/weather can change so quickly ... the other week I was left cooking a roast meal for myself as the rest of the family was out and it was a lovely sunny day, a salad would have been much more appropriate. I often have left overs etc that need eating up so end up with a complete miss mash of food in the fridge. Grin. Not helped by doing a voluntary role where I often get given lovely leftovers but not things that I can ‘plan’ for.

I'm crap at sticking to them. The key is preparation I think. If I prep veg etc in the morning before work I'll stick to the plan.

I don't do a weekly plan for this reason. I have a general idea of what meals we're having during the week and then i'll decide on the day when i see how much time i have to cook and what everyone fancies eating (and who's home).

We’re pretty good at sticking to them. Occasionally we will swap days but that’s about it. Saves us so much money from before we did meal planning I wouldn’t go back.

Fairly good, but obviously things sometimes change and there is a need to be flexible. If we change the meal for some reason (leftovers, invited out, sudden BBQ weather etc) then i re-schedule the meal immediately on the planner (I have a meal plan section on my calendar) so that it still gets used, but just at a later date.

Very flexible. Leftovers, going out, weather changes, working late unexpectedly all make this the best way for us. I buy fish and meat with as long as possible use by dates and freeze anything that doesn't get used.
