For me it's porridge and spicy food because I love them both. I can't complain overall, they are fab eaters really. I am slowly and sneakily introducing more and more chilli in their food to accustom them :)

Honestly not a stealth boast but mine both hate pizza, hot dogs and burgers! They only seem to like food which takes me ages to make, cook from scratch etc and I wish sometimes I could just do an easy tea! Would like them to like spicy food too but they don’t!

Stravapalava · 21/05/2019 22:52

Mine are quite good eaters. They do have things they don't like, but it's easy enough to work round them & they're old enough now to pick things out of a meal which includes them instead of just tantrum. DC1 isn't a fan of creamy sauces though, so we don't eat nearly enough of things with said creamy sauces.

SushiGo · 21/05/2019 22:55

I would like them to eat mashed potato.

I make nice mash, honest!

Potato
Rasins
One-pot type foods such as casseroles

It's not a long list, but it is surprisingly restrictive!

He adores sprouts though Hmm

SmarmyMrMime · 21/05/2019 23:02

And toast. How can he not like toast???

Then he moans that its scrambled eggs for breakfast AGAIN because it's that or porridge as he doesn't do toast, other forms of eggs or anything wet on cereal so it is just sugary cardboard.

GiveMyHeadPeaceffs · 21/05/2019 23:06

My ds is a pretty good eater but will not eat pasta. I despair.

BrieAndChilli · 21/05/2019 23:06

DD is the most random eater. She will no longer eat sandwiches with sliced bread, mashed potatoe, gravy or gravy like meals such as stew, anything with raisins in yet she will eat sushi in her lunchbox, olives, blue cheese, chillies on everything, avocado, etc!!
DS2 won’t eat tomatoes or anything in tomato type sauce which is surprisingly restrictive! To be fair he has always hated them since a baby yet still has another go at trying one every few months.

riverislands · 21/05/2019 23:20

I wish my youngest would eat porridge too, plus vegetarian or vegan options a couple of times a week. He is great eggs and cheese person , with meat, chicken or fish every evening, but has no time for bean chillis, vegetable curry , lentil Dahl or black bean fajitas. Of course he will eat pizza or cheese and pasta with broccoli.

ExpletiveDelighted · 21/05/2019 23:23

Potatoes, eggs. Won't touch either in any form, its really hard work sometimes.

MotherOfTheNoise · 22/05/2019 00:21

Eggs for my DS. Every few months he tried them but still doesn't like them. Yet to find something my daughter won't eat though, which is good!

NorthernSpirit · 22/05/2019 01:00

I have a 14 year old step daughter who is the fussiest eater I have ever met. Only eats:
Chips (actually skinny fries)
Chicken nuggets
Margarita pizza (god help you if there’s a basil leaf on top)
Plain briefer

Absolutely nothing else for dinner. Her mum is also an extremely fussy eater.

I have stopped pandering and adopted the following attitude..... my mothers tough love did me absolutely no harm.

NorthernSpirit · 22/05/2019 01:02

Meant plain burger. I shit you not... will only eat 3 dinners!

My mum was a trained chief and I cook from scratch. I can’t tell you how stressful I find dinner time.

managedmis · 22/05/2019 01:17

Meat and two veg really.

Osquito · 22/05/2019 01:19

Yoghurt!
Plain/Greek would be AMAZING but even no-bits-sweet-effing-strawberry-pink-goop would be progress Angry

RainbowMum11 · 22/05/2019 01:37

Rice
Pasta (other than in lasagne or spag bol)

IAmNotAWitch · 22/05/2019 01:57

MacDonalds.

For some reason the little freaks don't like MacDonalds.

This is very annoying on roadtrips, also I love Maccas! It was a massive treat for me when we used to stop at Maccas when on a long drive.

Couple of weirdos, they didn't get it from me. DH doesn't like it as much as I do he is ambivalent, but will eat it if that is the plan.

They will gag down some chips, but won't eat any of the burgers or anything else.

soulrunner · 22/05/2019 02:26

I think a lot of kids don’t like maccas because of the mustard and pickle. Also the chips used to be awesome when they were fried in tallow but now they’re run of the mill. Sad times!

I wish mine just liked the same things.

BikeRunSki · 22/05/2019 04:14

Dd(7) will eat sushi and curry, but not:
Chips
Potatoes of any kind
Toast
Yoghurt (ds(10) won’t touch yoghurt either)
Milk on cereal
Porridge
Anything that looks like it might be onion
Cooked vegetables other than carrots, brocolli, sweet corn and peas.
Fish
Pastry
Pizza base

It drives me up the wall. She will happily eat rice and noodles all day - DS won’t touch them. Same for raw tomatoes.99

FixItUpChappie · 22/05/2019 05:11

My youngest will not eat melted cheese. He will eat cheese but not warmed in any way Hmm

Melted cheese features in a surprising number of dishes - cue pushing the plate away like he's been handed a plate of plague

He's 6 so you'd have thought he'd of grown out of it by now 🤷‍♀️

BertrandRussell · 22/05/2019 05:20

My 18 year old last ate fruit 16 years ago. He eats all vegetables except green peppers so his diet is healthy, but I still feel sad if we’ve got something delicious like peaches or raspberries and he’s missing out!

flumpybear · 22/05/2019 05:21

DD is gone and eats most things including fruit and veg but niot spicy unfortunately, which o often cook for me and DH
My DA won't touch veg or fruit, bar carrots, everything else he eats is beige 🙄

JontyDoggle37 · 22/05/2019 05:25

Eggs. He’ll things with eggs in them that he can’t see, like cake, pastry, etc, but eggs on their own, however you cook them, is a no. Drives me nuts. He is only 4, so hoping he grows out of it!

Zoflorabore · 22/05/2019 05:39

Ds (8) won't eat meat like sausages/hot dogs/burgers which often tend to feature on menus for children. Most places do pasta though which she loves.

She also has dry cereal and won't eat cheese unless melted on food ie pasta bake or grilled cheese.

She refused eggs until she was 7 and one day decided to try one and loves them now.
Not a fan of sandwiches and party food can be tough i.e. sausage rolls/ pork pies etc.

I'm getting her to try new food all the time though, I praise her just for trying.

She has 2 friends who are sisters who will eat absolutely anything! Turns out that they are not offered a choice and if they don't eat it they go hungry.
That's my problem with her. Too much choice.

Millie2013 · 22/05/2019 06:04

A better variety of cooked veg- she has oral allergy syndrome and it’s msde her wary of trying different fruits and veg (but the cooked stuff isn’t a problem)
One pot meals, or food in a sauce (she will eat gravy and pasta sauces)
Yes to spicy food

I’m not complaining overall, but I just wish she’d try things, rather than declaring that she doesn’t like them. However, she’s also declared that she doesn’t like juice/fizzy drinks/anything other than milk or water and refuses to try them

Fatted · 22/05/2019 06:10

My little cherubs don't do mince. They will happily eat most meats, meatballs, burgers, sausages etc. But God forbid you give them blood mince or anything with mince in it. So no bolognese, Lasagne etc.

Also wish they would eat Chinese food. DH doesn't like Chinese either. But it's my favorite!!
