Emergency rhubarb question !

I've just strained my home made rhubarb gin (bloody gorgeous since you ask). DH has plans to eat the leftover chunks of gin - infused rhubarb with ice cream.

Can he do this? Can I? Will we both be dead by sunrise?

Stewed over ice cream it is amazing! Boozy rhubarb crumble also good! I made lots of rhubarb gin last year!

I save the strained out fruit from flavouring gin and make boozy chutney for presents at Christmas!

Borridge · 21/05/2019 18:08

Stew it. You will be drunk and very alive!

He must not do this - he will die

Send it all to me, and I will ensure that it is disposed of safely Grin

What a bizarre question. Rhubarb is lovely and not fatal. Gin is lovely and not fatal. Rhubarb full of gin is lovely - and not fatal.

  • unless in grotesque excess

That reminds me - I really must strain the plum vodka and do something with the plums.

GinUnicorn · 21/05/2019 18:20

Do you have the recipe for your gin? I have an excess of rhubarb

SherlockHolmes · 21/05/2019 18:36

Ooh thanks all. Rhubarb recipe was from YouTube. Basically put 1kg of fruit in a sealed jar with 200g sugar, leave for 2 days, add 400 ml gin and leave for 4 weeks. I've got another one on the go which has ginger in too. You should shake it now and again to mix it up.

I might try that, I've just picked all my rhubarb

RezCowgirl · 21/05/2019 18:43

Strained boozy fruit must be eaten with ice cream.

Thanks!
