Should I go to Spain and live with partner or stay at home alone?

This has been a dilemma for quite a long time and now decisions have to be made. Partner is younger and wants to live in the sun. This isn't my goal in life. Family is here not over there.

It is difficult to say without knowing more about the situation. From the little you have said it doesn't look like you really want to go. Is there any compromise to be had, can you live out there part of the year and keep a base in the UK for the rest of the time?

Are you able to get a good job, there is a lot of unemployment in Spain. Do you speak Spanish?

Are you British? Do you speak Spanish and can you get jobs there? What happens you go, May is replaced by Boris Johnson/another hard Brexiteer and we crash out of EU with no deal? Would it not be sensible to at least wait to see if you can leave there longer than October before giving up your life in the UK?

You don't give us a lot of background. When you say family, do you mean dc, or wider family? Do you speak Spanish? What about jobs?

It depends on whether you love your partner or family more. Simplistic, but there’s not much info to go on. Many variables.

Why don't you guys do 6 months here 6 months there if you can afford it

From your user name, are you retired?

Thanks so much to all who replied to my post. I'm English and partner is Russian. I'm not much of a traveller but he is. I have been widowed for many years and the kids are grown and have both bought their own homes.Spain seems a bit leap into the unknown although I have a basic grasp of Spanish. To be honest I have to say my sons are a priority also other members of family. We will definitely wait to see what happens after brexit before moving anywhere!.
