Cambridge - Adenbrooks hospital area

Hi Guys

We are looking to buy a house in Central -South Cambridge and saw a lovely semi that we could do up on Netherhall way just off Queen Edith way
Anyone knows how is that area ?
I know schools are ok and we like that it seem quiet ( compare to London where we live now )
We don’t need to commute to central Cambridge mon- Fri as both are working away from Cambridge so good access to M11 is important
Could you let me know how is the area to live around queen Edith way / Adenbrooks :)?
Thanks a million
Inga

Bumping this for you, OP. Can anyone help?

Have you tried the posting in the local section?

The hospital is called Addenbrooke's by the way.

I was brought up there, and my parents are still there. The traffic on QEW can be heavy at rush hour, with the queue for the lights at Cherry Hinton stretching nearly all the way back to The Netherhall School. It's better higher up towards the hospital, but still busy. The area is well served with buses and it's on the 'easy' side of town to access the M11 to London. I would try out your potential commute, though.

Nice enough area. Lots of amenities and some lovely countryside areas too. Doesn't have a bad reputation.

Will be busy getting into the centre of Cambs, but commuting out should be fine.
I live the other side of Cherry Hinton and like it.

Thanks a million for your answers
We like that it's quiet and seemed to be very peaceful during the various times that we visited
We don't mind the traffic into central C as we commute out of Cambridge ( hoping to go against traffic when leaving in the morning and coming back in the evening )
Just wanted to know if it's safe , has good schools ( read good reviews of the local schools )
And if it's family friendly
Coming from London and don't know much about Cambridge at all so trying to get some understanding :)

It's definitely safe!

I lived there as a student and it was lovely!

Re commuting out of town be aware that there isn’t much of a ring road around Cambridge and big sites like Addenbrookes for the south M11 and the Science Park and University West sites for the more northern bits generate a lot of traffic in rush hours. This means that effectively even driving against the flow you will be in a lot of traffic going in that direction.

For example Hills Road is packed with traffic driving into Cambridge in the evening as plenty of people from Addenbrookes/Biomed campus who don’t live South of the city drive home.
