Today I Made an unexpected trip to Waitrose to look about and bought some frozen meatballs for £3.60. Expensive for me.

@Bear2014 I keep saying I'll buy them for ds but then I see the price of over £1 per tiny sucky and I can never put them in the trolley.

Gottalovesummer · 20/05/2019 20:04

Butter

Wine

Cat food

Needcoffeeimmediatley · 20/05/2019 20:05

@jackparlabane I could have written this! Today my DS poured one into a glass and said "they've got bits in, I'm not drinking these anymore" Hmm

Oliversmumsarmy · 20/05/2019 20:06

We don't get them every week but those vivera fake steak things

We love those. We do them with chinky chips, mushrooms and vegetables

Earslaps · 20/05/2019 20:07

Those buying oat milk- it is supposed to be very easy to make your own like this.

troppibambini · 20/05/2019 20:08

Mine is probably the meat for Sunday lunch.
We usually have beef or lamb at between £10-£15 there are 6 of us and we usually have a couple of extra guests.
We have left overs from beef but never from lamb as I usually get a leg and the dog had the bone and bits of meat on it.

Likethebattle · 20/05/2019 20:17

With the prices of cheese, butter and milk i’d probably be better off buying a cow.

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 20/05/2019 20:18

All you pp buying £££ chicken breast...

You're missing out on both taste and juiciness, as well as paying loads more - can I suggest you buy thigh instead? So much better than dry old breast.
(You can get it boneless if you want, but de-boning it takes not time if you do the whole batch in one go when you get home.)

woopdewoop · 20/05/2019 20:21

Coffee, wine, smoked salmon. I buy 45 eggs a week ( we all eat them for breakfast) which adds up. We buy our meat from a local butcher and usually spend about 50 quid - it keeps us going for a couple of weeks.

Turpy · 20/05/2019 20:22

Halo top ice lollies. They can cost £5 for three which is ridiculously expensive. I try to wait and bulk buy them when they are on offer which make them a much better buy.

I wouldn't usually spend that much but they are so tasty and so low calorie that I think they are 'just' worth it.

AtleastitsnotMonday · 20/05/2019 20:25

The Waitrose balsamic pearls for salads. £4.99 for tincy wincy pot. Go through a pot a week (I eat a lot of salad!) and also beetroot ketchup. I sound so poncy but I’m not, I’m currently eating a packet of Pom bears!

RebeccaWrongDaily · 20/05/2019 20:31

posh tomatoes. £6 a delivery from Ocado (although i get a discount cos I have a pass)
I am not including wine / beers (DH bought 3 beers on Saturday from a beer shop and it was £18.50 - I still can't work that out)
Nice chicken / steak/ lamb.

And butter and cheese is crazily expensive.

RebeccaWrongDaily · 20/05/2019 20:33

I still semi giggle / weep at some of the deliveries I've had (from ocado) where I think they are trolling us.
I remember fondly the £3 quiche that would fit in the palm of my hand and 'the punnet of strawbs that had one each for us (there's 5 of us) oh how we laughed as I dished up 'strawberry and cream'

MiniMum97 · 20/05/2019 20:38

Belazu balsamic vinegar. £18 a bottle! Really lovely and thick and lasts for ages though.

GrassIsntGreener · 20/05/2019 20:39

Lurpak- no other spreadable butter tastes as good.

Ellieboolou27 · 20/05/2019 20:41

@CakeNinja fair enough, can't really beat a butchers / farm when it comes to meat so I'll sit back in my box 😂

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 20/05/2019 20:43

I buy 45 eggs a week ( we all eat them for breakfast) which adds up.

My local guy sells a tray of 30 for £3.50. I think he's a bargain as another local chap is about £7 I think! Mixed sizes so some small, some large, but it all evens out in the end.

Both free range, both local farms.

Warmer · 20/05/2019 20:45

Omg you lot are so fancy! Blush I feel guilty if I treat myself to bread that's £1.10 instead of 89p. Why not enjoy the things you like though :) I don't drink wine or eat fish though so I save there. Washing powder I'd say is the most expensive

DulcieRay · 20/05/2019 20:46

Fish, cheese and nice yoghurt
Fresh fruit

AngelaKilfeather · 20/05/2019 20:50

Cherry Pepsi Max for me, I buy it from amazon pantry now. Fruit, meat and eggs for sporty ds who is weight training and would eat the entire weekly shop in one go if he could. Fage.

redbedheadd · 20/05/2019 20:54

Whole chicken free range is a tenner which is a lot but I'm trying to buy more ethical meat.

Fruit is expensive.

Nappies!

outsho · 20/05/2019 20:55

I occasionally eat salmon and that’s expensive wherever you buy it from, tuna is too.
Don’t eat meat.

Loo roll is expensive and the kids shampoo, DD has sensitive scalp so I have to use child’s farm. I know that’s not food but definitely the most expensive things on the list.

Inforapenny65 · 20/05/2019 20:55

It doesn’t matter where we shop ( usually Aldi) we have to buy PLenty kitchen rolls and UNStoppables... we’ve tried all others but nothing else beats it....

BlueMerchant · 20/05/2019 21:01

Bag of Brazil nuts £3.50
Bear Fruit yoyos £2.50
Been& Jerry's between £3- £4.75 depends on offer
Nakd bars £2.50
Ridiculous when I see it written.

gerispringer · 20/05/2019 21:04

Vegan magnums
Takeaway curry
