Just me being curious nosey

Today I Made an unexpected trip to Waitrose to look about and bought some frozen meatballs for £3.60. Expensive for me.

Ironfloor269 · 20/05/2019 17:19

Free range chicken

Bluesheep8 · 20/05/2019 17:19

Parmesan and lurpak lighter spreadable

Ironfloor269 · 20/05/2019 17:20

Meant to add, we buy a whole free range chicken from Aldi and it's often about £5.50

catinboots99 · 20/05/2019 17:21

Ribeye steaks from Aldi probably once a fortnight for me and DS2.

catinboots99 · 20/05/2019 17:21

Oh yes and Lurpak spreadable for sure

stopdropandroll · 20/05/2019 17:23

@fresh the no bull quarter pounders, pulled pork and tofu burgers were £1 last week / if they still are you should stock up!

Shinygoldbauble · 20/05/2019 17:24

I bought a 3 pack of tuna fridge pots on special offer for €3 the other day. When I went back to get more they had returned to their regular price of €6.50!!. Lovely tuna in a nice portion size but I can't afford that. It seems quite expensive.

Bookworm4 · 20/05/2019 17:26

Home Bargains is good for toiletries/cleaning also has branded food items. Lidls & Aldis have a much better choice now. Wouldn't give Waitrose & Sainsburys the ££, overpriced.

BigusBumus · 20/05/2019 17:26

Lurpak has just gone from a 1kg box to 750g and stayed the same price!!

I buy expensive dog food, wine and cheese.

IHaveBrilloHair · 20/05/2019 17:31

Oat milk, it's really dear compared to cow's milk but Dd is intolerant to lactose.

WheresAllTheGoodInTheWorld · 20/05/2019 17:37

Diet coke. We go through 8 - 12 cans a day between the 2 of us. If I don't drink it I'm in a foul mood.
This is better than before when we were on 24 a day! No kidding.

It would be cheaper to bulk buy in Costco however if there's loads in the more likely to get drunk. So we buy it daily.

bluebananababe · 20/05/2019 17:44

Cheese ( basic grated or block) is also expensive. Nearly £3

hidinginthenightgarden · 20/05/2019 17:48

Fruit! We spend about 15- 20 a week in fruit.

Titsywoo · 20/05/2019 17:50

Steak every couple of weeks - I try to get to Aldi as it's much cheaper than anywhere else and tastes better too!

Smoked salmon - again Aldi's is the cheapest but still a lot for the amount you get!

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 20/05/2019 17:55

Fever tree tonic water.Ridiculously priced imo but very nice Smile

BlackPrism · 20/05/2019 17:58

Frozen salmon usually £5 a bag. Or roasting joints which are similar. My honey is £4 and so is my coffee... you lot are v frugal!

@bluebananababe what do you eat on the regular then?

Motherof3feminists · 20/05/2019 17:59

Fruit. I've never bought meat, fish or formula and am glad of it as they seem extortionate. I rarely drink either. Why don't I have more money?? 😩

InterestingShipNames · 20/05/2019 18:03

Organic chicken - about £10. Milk from the milkman also adds up (but the bottles are reusable, which is why I buy milk that way and not from Sainsbury’s).

IntoValhalla · 20/05/2019 18:05

I don’t buy it every week, but at least a few times a month, I get a small pack of smoked salmon to have with cream cheese in bagels for about £3.50. I get about 3 generously stuffed bagels out of that.

wildhairdontcare · 20/05/2019 18:05

Bread- £5.50 a loaf several times a week Blush

Kez200 · 20/05/2019 18:05

Nespresso pods. And fruit. Seem to live on the stuff.

Kez200 · 20/05/2019 18:07

Ahh yes honey. I buy local and its expensive. But i dont use much, so i forgot about it.

IntoValhalla · 20/05/2019 18:07

IHaveBrillo we are in that predicament too.
My Asda have recently started stocking Provitamil oat milk which is £1.30 per litre compared to £1.80 per litre for Oatly - 50p is quite a big saving really!

IntoValhalla · 20/05/2019 18:07

wildhair Is your bread gold plated?!! Shock
I’m guessing it’s for a special dietary requirement?? Gluten free bread is expensive isn’t it?

WeCameToDance · 20/05/2019 18:10

Steak - usually the 2 for £7.50 in Tesco. Not every week though.
Toilet roll! I genuinely dread buying toilet roll. All that money to literally flush away.
Birds Eye chicken dippers. Big bag is £4! However, they are the only ones ds will eat.
