Leaving a 13 and 15 year old for an evening?

We have tickets for an event an hour away on a school night. We need to leave around 6pm and will be back around midnight. Kids are aged 13 and 15. No family locally but neighbours they can call on if they need to.
Would you leave them?

Yes.

JasperTheFriendlyGhost · 20/05/2019 13:19

If they usually get along then i would. However, if they are prone to big arguments or fights it would be a no.

TeacupDrama · 20/05/2019 13:19

of course unless they have complex needs

Sparrow8 · 20/05/2019 13:22

Yes

Drum2018 · 20/05/2019 13:24

Yes. I'd see no issue with it but just tell them not to be telling friends or putting it on social media that they have a free house Smile

fitzbilly · 20/05/2019 13:26

Yes unless there is some reason not to like them hurting each other?

JudgeRindersMinder · 20/05/2019 13:26

Absolutely, and with @Drum2018’s caveat

OrdinaryGirl · 20/05/2019 22:17

I used to babysit other people's kids when I was 14/15, so yes I reckon it's fine, if you're sensible about it.

stucknoue · 20/05/2019 22:24

Yes, we did, similar distances and times too

OrchidInTheSun · 20/05/2019 22:27

Yes of course

zucchinicourgette · 20/05/2019 22:29

I have children the exact same ages and would and do leave them for that amount of time. If they are happy to be left it’s fine.

Ragwort · 20/05/2019 22:30

Yes, and assuming no SN or challenging behaviour I would have probably left them alone much sooner. We have an only child so I was a little more wary of leaving him completely alone but certainly at 14/15 he would be on his own for an evening.

teenagetantrums · 20/05/2019 22:30

Yes when mine were that age l was a single mum worked 3nights a week 7pm till 3am. However mine were used to being alone after school and in holidays.

SpecterLitt · 21/05/2019 04:02

Yes, with contact information in case of emergency. They should be fine.

Umm yes unless they have special needs or are likely to kill each other why wouldn't you??
