Extend or move?

Which is the least stressful?!

If we stay here we need to extend or we look for a bigger house elsewhere. To get a bigger house in a nice area is going to obviously bump our mortgage payments up. But extending will, I imagine, cost a fair whack too.

Both will cause upheaval.

How horrendous is living in a house with major work happening?

I have no experience of this or moving, this is the first house I bought and we rented it first.

Do you love your present home, does it tick all the boxes you require other than being small? If so then it would probably be cheaper to extend. Could you move in with family while you had the work done?

I have had major work going on while living in the house. It was quite difficult. There was dust and mess. There was the fear every morning when I could hear the workmen on the scaffold, that the curtains were shut tight and not at all see through.
I would look into the costs of moving from estate agents fees legal fees and all incidentals, to the removal itself. Also watch out for some companies wanting an exit fee.
I would be thinking about how much do I really really want to stay on in this house, this street etc. Even maybe do a list of good and bad points of each option.

I do like it yes. It's in a good catchment for secondary schooave tl for DD.

Can't move in with family unfortunately so will have to live with the chaos if we do extend. No idea how much it will cost 😂
