This part of the microwave set on fire (see pic). Does the whole thing need replacing or just that part?? Thanks! 🔥🔥🔥

Much though I'm in favour of repair rather than replace, in the case of microwaves I'd get a whole new one - you don't want component smoke being baked into your reheating soup!

It's likely cheaper than getting a repair too, which would be £60 plus parts and labour around here.

Tingface · 19/05/2019 14:45

WTF?

You need a new microwave.

RunSweatLaughAndLatte · 19/05/2019 14:49

I would get a new one and avoid the risk of a house fire personally!

gawd, buy a new one, they are not that dear!

and unless you know what you are doing you'll probably irradiate the entire county!

Etino · 19/05/2019 15:14

That is, I think ‘just’ a fat fire where splashes have ignited.
However as pp have said, new microwaves aren’t expensive and it’s not worth the risk.
Sorry planet- OP do you use it much? An alternative would be to ditch and not replace.

AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 19/05/2019 16:57

I know someone who's just replaced the part after a small fire BUT he's got relevant qualifications and knows what he's doing

Do you have a repair cafe near you? repaircafe.org/en/

Ha ok thanks! I'm not a cheapskate honestly, it's because it's built into the kitchen so complicated it. I will probably just do without it!
