Travelodge destinations

Hi, I have a travelodge voucher that I need to use soon and am not sure where to go. We'd be travelling by train from Manchester and would go for either one night or two. There are 5 of us with ages 4, 10, 12, 43, 79.
We love Llandudno but fancied somewhere different. Southport is a possibility. Maybe York but would prefer a beach.
Where would you recommend that has plenty to see, isn't too far and has good public transport, either a beach or a river preferably, and hopefully not too busy?
We'd be going in July or August but I need to book it ASAP as the voucher expires soon.

Liverpool would be perfect, but it's very near you and you probably know it very well anyway. There's a TL right down near the docks.

Is Chester too close? There is so much to do there and it's a lot less busy than York.

Southport TL is right in the town centre-right next to a Morrisons supermarket too so handy for snacks etc. We stayed there last year and absolutely loved it 😁

Glasgow?

Motherof3feminists · 19/05/2019 10:30

I've never been to Glasgow. Liverpool and Chester wouldn't be the kind of places my mum would like to go for a break. Southport is much loved by the children.
Northumberland coast? I've never been there either but really fancy it although I have zero knowledge of nice places to visit.
