Can I ask for a colonoscopy? What the hell is this?

I don’t know if I’m being a hypochondriac or not and I don’t want to waste resources.

For the past few years I’ve been getting pain where my sigmoid colon is, it’s particularly bad the week before my period & during my period. I had a laparoscopy about 2 years ago as I was having periods every 2 weeks and sex has always been painful. It also took me about a year to convince DD (although I appreciate that’s not abnormal). I didn’t get the pain anywhere near as much when I was pregnant. I also sometimes get bleeding from my bum (TMI sorry!) but didn’t have that at all when pregnant.

Anyway the laparoscopy showed I have scarring on my sigmoid and pelvic wall but couldn’t say why. They couldn’t see any signs of endometriosis.

Now my periods are back and it’s hurting but nothing helps. I also never feel empty after a bowel movement. A sibling has been diagnosed with diverticulitis and whilst I don’t think I have that, I wonder if something else is going on.

Has anyone else had this?

I’ve not had it but just wanted to say you don’t sound like a hypochondriac and it often takes women with gynie issues years to get it taken seriously and investigated

Thanks! It took years just to get the laparoscopy. My brother got diagnosed with diverticulitis within 2 weeks

I Have diverticulosis and that is exactly where my pain is. Not that there are miracle cures but you can adjust diet and there are some meds for pain so I would keep pushing for a colonoscopy.
