Anyone owned a Dacia Duster?

Thinking of getting one.

They are affordable if you go for the economy model but the reviews are excellent.
Just wondered if anyone had any experience.

My brother has a Dacia Duster and it is a beautiful car. I’ve even considered getting one myself.

RobinHumphries · 18/05/2019 14:37

We have one. Have had no complaints

Feilin · 18/05/2019 14:46

We have one. Excellent car. No trouble at all.

We have one too - owned it for about five years. Absolutely fantastic, can't recommend them enough!!! It has never let us down. Roomy, comfortable, economical, quite stylish and so reasonably priced.

FortunaMajor · 18/05/2019 14:50

Had one as a company car and loved it. Seriously considered buying one for myself after I changed job.

BrewdogMillionaire · 18/05/2019 14:53

We have one - it's comfortable to drive, reliable, and affordable. It's a good option for its price bracket.

AndOutComeTheBoobs · 18/05/2019 15:02

You've basically made my mind up.

I'm going to test drive one on Tuesday but I've heard nothing but great stuff about them.
Thank you.

I test drove one yesterday and I didn't like it.

I got back in my old pergueot sw308 and loved it way way more.

Back to the drawing board!

What went wrong?

AndOutComeTheBoobs · 20/05/2019 21:42

The actual feel of the drive was fine.
But the car felt smaller than my current one (which I suppose it is, my car is longer, the Dacia is taller). And it just felt plain and uncomfortable.
It was a really stuffy afternoon yesterday so put on the air con and it wasn't cool at all.

I did very much like how the handling got lighter as I lowered the gears, making pulling forward into a space like parking a feather.

That’s a shame. I didn’t try one for driving but liked the feel inside. This was a few years back. We got a a Fiat in the end.

AndOutComeTheBoobs · 20/05/2019 21:56

Which Fiat did you get?

I would really just like a newer version of what I've got but there seems very few of them out there.

My neighbour is on his second and swears by them. DH remains unconvinced, he's only just reconciled himself to being a Skoda driver and we've had that three years Grin

cherryblossomgin · 20/05/2019 21:59

My MIL has one and it's a lovely car we borrowed it for a weekend away and DH loved driving it. As a passenger I found it comfy and had alot of room.

AndOutComeTheBoobs · 20/05/2019 22:00

Skoda Octavias are lovely cars.

OP posts:
Lelelel26 · 20/05/2019 22:00

We love ours Smile

AndOutComeTheBoobs · 20/05/2019 22:04

For those who love their Duster, what's the air con like in yours?

OP posts:
Bollockwort · 21/05/2019 11:03

Air con takes a while to get going, but is great after 10 minutes or so. First 10 minutes is like sitting in a tin can on a hot day!

Other than that, I think it's a great budget car.

Yogagirl123 · 21/05/2019 11:11

We had a Peugeot 308sw, changed it for a Peugeot 2008. DH has driven/owned lots of cars, he loves Peugeot.

Have you driven a 2008?

listsandbudgets · 21/05/2019 11:49

Shows what I know about cars... I assumed this was going to be about the latest innovation in house keeping!! Blush

AndOutComeTheBoobs · 21/05/2019 13:58

YogaGirl no, I got in one today though and as long as the drive is good then I'm sold on the 2008 (would prefer the 3008 but my budget doesn't allow it!).

I didn't think I would like it. Then I got in, saw all the pretty and realised I was sold.

Clearly I'm a sucker for shiny things.

OP posts:
Yogagirl123 · 21/05/2019 14:23

We want a 3008 too! They are expensive. Good luck.

HelloCanYouHearMe · 21/05/2019 17:15

Speaking as a past owner of a 2008, id say don't do it.

This is based on mine being a big bag of shite with a crap gear box that had to be rebuilt 3 times in the 18 months I owned it (from new). I also found it to be sluggish off the mark and has massive blind spots.

AndOutComeTheBoobs · 21/05/2019 17:55

Yes the blind spots are horrific aren't they?
I've got used to mine now (it's the same with the 308) but I nearly pulled out in front of people countless times before I got used to it.
