ImperfectTents : i still cry after 4 x yearly visits over the last 30 years. It’s heaven on earth to me

Curlyshabtree · 18/05/2019 17:50

We are blessed in the UK to have so many beautiful places. For me the Scottish Highlands are magnificent. Glencoe in particular. I also love the gentle countryside of Suffolk.

MockerstheFeManist · 18/05/2019 17:55

Locally, Ballard Down and the Old Harry Rocks.

Further Afield, the beach at Alnwick Castle.

The Northumberland Coast - around Lindinsfarne, Dunstanburgh, Alnmouth - is stunning.
The Black Cullin of Skye
The Hope Valley from the top of Mam Tor
Stourhead (although this is largely developed rather than natural)
Glencoe and Rannoch Moor
Pretty much the whole of the Lake District
The Lizard Peninsular
The Yorkshire Dales
Maldon in Essex

The UK is jam packed with stunning landscapes.

My garden and view. Sadly, we are moving but our view will never be beaten.

Wow @Cismyfatarse - where are you and WHY are you leaving?! Grin

RuffleCrow · 18/05/2019 18:19

For a small group of islands we punch well above our weight in terms of natural beauty. I think the conservation movement has done us all a huge favour. It's only when you go to certain bits of continental europe that you realise we don't have quite the same problem of massive 60s concrete hotel complexes ruining our coastline as some places do.

Cismyfatarse1 · 18/05/2019 18:32

I am in the Scottish Highlands, near Skye and we are leaving because I have a fantastic new job, our kids are at University and we fancy being closer to friends and culture (cinema / theatre etc).

So many. Kynance Cove at sunset, top of Pen y Fan, any woodland with bluebells...this country is beautiful.

BikeRunSki · 18/05/2019 18:38

My grandparents adored their view of Wolstonbury Hill on the Sussex South Downs. They lived in 3 houses, and would only consider houses where they kept the view.

Moofreemum1 · 18/05/2019 18:44

Elllicam · 18/05/2019 18:46

Looking at the rocks in your picture, I think you would like Brinham Rocks in Yorkshire.

Skyejuly · 18/05/2019 19:00

We got married at the fairy glen on Skye

The fairy glen in snowdonia is also beautiful
I love a bit of Suffolk countryside too.
Salisbury (old sarum)

The area around the central sections of Hadrian's Wall are wonderful, and have that quality of timelessness.

Blackorblack · 18/05/2019 19:50

The road north from Ullapool, north -west Highlands, is fabulous.
Applecross, the Assynt peninsula.

HeronLanyon · 18/05/2019 19:54

See the folk that like Applecross. May I recommend a novel

It's called His Bloody Project

Worth reading if you have an idealised view of the highlands Smile
