This is a situation that none of my friends have gone through and I've never experienced. I'm trying to gauge what's best for DS in this situation.

When do you think children should meet a new partner? What do you think it's dependent on?
Where would you do it?
How would you introduce them?
What things would you do to keep your child feeling secure?
And
Would you mention it to your ex? Even if they're known to get aggressive/make life difficult when they have jealousy issues?

I think it’s a case of take things slowly and at the child’s pace.

I had known my partner for a long time before we got together, so Ds already knew him so we just built it from there st his speed

I think minimum of a year into the relationship, following conversations about commitment and readiness to work towards blending families. Kids then get a say in how quickly that happens.
Don’t underestimate how fraught this change can be.

Meeting on neutral territory and for half a day maximum at first. I think they can know the parent has a “special friend” beforehand, but not feel they have to meet or deal with them until the relationship is firmly established.
