Urgent birthday sponge cake question!!!

I’m making a sponge mix for two small sandwich tins (15-20 mins cook time at 190)

If I put it all in a big cake tin (am going to make two big ones ultimately) how long should I cook it for?!?

Like a cake maths question Shock

Personally i would lower the temp a bit (perhaps 175) and cook for around 40 mins, but keeping a close eye after 30 mins. That is just a guess though!

I'd guess 20-25 min. You'll know; it will be golden and springy and will have pulled away from the edges of the tin. But don't repeatedly open the oven to check it, as it will collapse.

Yup I'd lower the temp and keep an eye from 30 min

Did it work ok?

Theclearing · 19/05/2019 15:55

Yes absolutely perfectly although both cakes dropped on one side weirdly (just sandwiched them together opposite sides so balanced perfectly in the end!
