21st Birthday Gift (Boy)

I am struggling. I'd like to get him something that he'll keep and use for a long time (or at least really like and appreciate now). He wouldn't wear a watch... and that's my only lead.

He's quite into gaming, card games, tables top games and nerdy stuff, but also obscure music, gigs, fashion, etc. Not into sports at all.

I've got so far; an expensive bottle of his favoured spirit, some nice suede oxfords and some edible treats.

This is for my little brother who has done so much for me. He's just about to graduate from university and I'm feeling all sorts of proud, so really want to get him something great. I know there have been loads of threads like this but I thought I'd put it out there in case of any new ideas.

Realistically what would he keep as tastes change so much as you get older and things/stuff can date.

What about an experience such as a music concert of his favourite band/singer? A lovely meal beforehand?

weddingplannc · 17/05/2019 19:51

@FiremanKing a nice meal before a concert would be good. I'll have a look. The thing is, he's into such "indie" music that I can barely remember what he likes!

Penknife, A personalised one of these has gone down well with all my nephews.

Luggage.

Cocktail set.

BlackcurrantJamontoast · 17/05/2019 20:51

Rimowa cabin case is the default 21st gift

FatandSassy · 17/05/2019 20:57

It's not 21 but when my son turned 18 I got him a tattoo - I paid for a whole day and he's got something he loves forever. It's not the standard gift but it works for us; my other son turns 18 this year and is planning the same thing.

FogCutter · 17/05/2019 21:05

An experience rather than a thing to keep?

UK weekend break (maybe when there's a gig or gaming convention on?)
Flights to somewhere cool like Berlin or Amsterdam?

Shelbybear · 17/05/2019 21:06

A decent watch if he'd wear one.

weddingplannc · 17/05/2019 21:17

Luggage is definitely an option! Thanks for that suggestion!

He might also like a tattoo. I don't know. He talked about one when he turned 18 but it never materialised.

An experience is probably what I will go for if I'm not certain about anything else, though - but what?! I am definitely "old before my time" as I've been in a serious relationship since 17!

I buy family a smart money clip wallet. Hugo Boss have a couple of decent ones.
