If you could have anything for dinner tonight what would it be?

I'm thinking in terms of home cooked meals that someone else is going to cook perfectly for you, rather than a fancy 3 course restaurant number.

I think I'd have a beautiful lamb biryani with lots of aubergine and cauliflower in the biryani and mint raita.

Or a cheese and potato pie made with lancashire cheese, onions, a bit of creme fraiche and a huge mixed salad with mustardy dressing.

Instead I'm just off to the supermarket now looking for inspiration ...

Shepherd's pie (altho technically it's cottage pie, we've just always called it shepherds) with buttered carrots, cabbage and broccolli.

Food of the gods!

Sausage egg and chips.
Sausages would be Hampshire Herbies from Sway Butchers in the New Forest. Eggs would be fresh laid by our hens.
Chips would be triple cooked. Loads of vinegar and salt.
I’ve actually got some of those sausages in the freezer from our last trip, but sadly we don’t have hens of our own so the eggs are crappy ones from Tesco’s and we only have oven chips.....

I really really want mini kievs, chips & peas with bread and butter Blush

Chancewouldbeafinethlng · 17/05/2019 17:24

Good quality steak that’s had a quick peep at the frying pan. I would have a blooming onion for starter and have crispy yet soft chips and peppercorn sauce with my steak.

ThisIsTheEndgame · 17/05/2019 17:24

Steak and a really nice salad

Pipandmum · 17/05/2019 17:25

My mother’s chicken curry. Nothing like what you get at a takeaway nowadays and she had freshly grated coconut (my job), sliced banana and onions on the side. It had raisins in it. Oh man it was yummy. She’s dead 5 years now and probably hadn’t made it for 20 years before that but I remember it sooo well.

Nuttyaboutnutella · 17/05/2019 17:25

Baked camembert, olives, fresh olive bread, sun dried tomatoes, stuffed vine leaves, peppers stuffed with cream cheese. Followed by a lovely chocolatey pudding and fresh berries, washed down with a bottle of wine 🤩

I'm pregnant though, so not on the plan for tonight. Definitely going to have it one night soon though

Chancewouldbeafinethlng · 17/05/2019 17:25

Either that or I would have satay chicken and noodles from the local Thai pub. It’s so moreish!

puma84 · 17/05/2019 17:26

Mabelface · 17/05/2019 17:27

Home made pizza, but my stomach has decided it doesn't like cheese anymore. Bastard stomach.

TrixieFranklin · 17/05/2019 17:27

(Vegetarian) toad in the hole with mashed potato, cauliflower cheese, roast carrots and slightly over cooked peas Grinand a big bag of chocolate chip cookies for after Blush

sardinesontoast · 17/05/2019 17:28

Rare steak with corn on the cob and a perfectly baked potato both dripping with butter.

God I'm hungry now

SwiftyT · 17/05/2019 17:28

I've just had a long job interview, am shattered and would kill my granny for Wagamama.

I'd have pulled pork gyoza, edamame, chicken raisukaree and peach iced tea. Then if I had room I'd go to an ice cream place for a hot fudge sundae.

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 17/05/2019 17:29

Greek meze with loads of taramasalta, houmous and toasted pitta bread..and bottle of dry white wine.

SwiftyT · 17/05/2019 17:29

I know that's not home cooked food but they do have a cook book.

Alternatively a really good steak. I can't cook steak and neither can my partner.

Ellabella989 · 17/05/2019 17:29

I would have one of my mum’s curries and then her apple crumble

TwittleBee · 17/05/2019 17:29

Actually along same lines as you OP !

One of my Dad's curries, preferably one with lots of paneer!
