I've just had Morrison's own bland and tasteless sunflower spread. I want something delicious on my toast. Any recommendations?

Yeo valley or if you can get it Longley farm is the bees knees.
Has to be salted, unsalted is only acceptable with marmite.

Housewife2010 · 18/05/2019 17:21

Also I never buy Lurpak. We produce plenty of butter in the UK so why not support our economy and not add to air miles by importing something that we produce well

Davros · 18/05/2019 17:23

housewife I completely agree

I find the Lurpak love on mumsnet interesting. I’ve never met anyone in real life that uses it or likes it but on here there are masses of fans!

Schoeny · 18/05/2019 17:30

Definitely butter all the way, and as pp have said, get a butter dish and keep it on the side.

We like anchor. Or president.

A pp said anchor was from NZ: I had a hazy memory of ads from my childhood talking about anchor butter being from NZ. But I've just checked, and my pack in the fridge definitely says it's from Wiltshire.

The 3 best butters I have had which are purchasable here are :

  • Echire. An unsalted French butter - mild in taste and with sweet notes. It is sold in many grocery stores and Ocado.
  • a butter I can only purchase at Neal’s Yard Dairy whose name I cannot remember. It is made with clotted cream
  • a salted butter I buy from my local Organic food store, again whose name I cannot remember. It is from Brittany with crunchy bits of seal de Guerande in it and very strongly flavoured.
Notonaschoolnight · 18/05/2019 17:36

Deffo not Asda own version of lurpak lighter god that stuff is rank

Cecilia2016 · 18/05/2019 17:38

Clover

Jojoanna · 18/05/2019 17:38

Anchor country life but bar butter much nicer

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 18/05/2019 17:41

Lurpak. That's my favourite one.

thenightsky · 18/05/2019 17:42

Kerrygold or Country Life.

BlueMerchant · 18/05/2019 17:44

Countrylife spreadable

Yoozanaim · 18/05/2019 17:46

Naturli. It's in a black tub, I think only at Sainsburys at the moment.

Davespecifico · 18/05/2019 17:49

Butter is nicer than margarine even if it’s Clover. All butters are better.
But if you want the best get one of the ones with salt crystals in, they’re lovely.

augustusglupe · 18/05/2019 18:17

Proper lurpak or spreadable slightly salted

ritzbiscuits · 18/05/2019 18:19

Another Countrylife vote.

Really don't like the Aldi Lurpak dupe Confused

Mominatrix · 18/05/2019 18:20

Dug the Brittany butter out of the freezer - it is Le Montsurais: Beurre a al barrette, grow set de Guerande.

Mominatrix · 18/05/2019 18:20

gros, not grow

elsabadogigante · 18/05/2019 18:24

The Flora vegan one.

PickAChew · 18/05/2019 18:26

Sainsburys taste the difference butter with cornish seasalt

Nowisthemonthofmaying · 18/05/2019 18:26

Just buy proper butter - not supermarket shite.

I love Ivy Farm Butter, it's organic and from Jersey cows and tastes amazing.

PickAChew · 18/05/2019 18:36

I replaced my manky old butter dish, last week, btw. Got a le creuset one from TK Maxx for £13

onestitchaway · 18/05/2019 19:26

Anchor. Or proper salted butter that you spread an inch thick on tiger loaf Grin

bigbluebus · 18/05/2019 19:30

I love the Lidl deluxe salted butter. It only comes in 2nd place to the butter we buy from our local cheese maker straight from the farm!
