Which butter/spread is actually tasty?

I've just had Morrison's own bland and tasteless sunflower spread. I want something delicious on my toast. Any recommendations?

The best butter is kerrygold

kunderscorej · 17/05/2019 10:24

Yeo valley is good, plus the cows are free range and fed organic.

YemenRoadYemen · 17/05/2019 10:25

Spreadable is grim.

I see it in the supermarket and don't understand who buys it, or why.

Butter at room temperature.

I love kerrygold too. Irish DH got me on to it.

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/05/2019 10:28

Naturli palm oil free spread for me as I’m allergic to cows milk, lurpak spreadable for dh.

cuppycups · 17/05/2019 10:33

Lurpack is better, I'll admit that. But I've never been bowled over by it. I might give President a try or switch to salted butter (must also invest in a butter dish and stop trying to spread refrigerated butter!)

Thanks everyone!

lurpak or anchor spreadable

nowshesaturtle · 17/05/2019 12:07

Anchor slightly salted for me. I don't really get the Lurpak love, it tastes a bit soapy to me, but I know I'm in a minority with that. But really any butter. Spreads are not nice and not good for you

PlainVanilla · 17/05/2019 12:16

President demi-sel

newnewname19 · 17/05/2019 12:22

I have always used Clover, and recently paid a bit more for President with sea salt flakes- game changer!!

rosie39forever · 17/05/2019 12:24

President is the only butter for me!

DuffRose · 17/05/2019 12:29

Lol at dragon butter...very distinctive

ChesterDrawsDoesntExist · 17/05/2019 12:31

Butter. Real butter. Anything else, (particularly margarine) is only useful for baking.

youngfreeandnotsingle · 17/05/2019 12:34

Clover!

Titsywoo · 17/05/2019 12:35

Spread is nasty. I have real butter (in a block) kept in a butter dish not the fridge. I use lurpack salted.

Teddybear45 · 17/05/2019 12:35

Waitrose unsalted butter. Tastes like cream when you whisk it

PinkHeartLovesCake · 17/05/2019 12:37

You need real salted butter, in a block from a butter dish.

sunflower spreads are just 🤮 and ruin delicious toast

Titsywoo · 17/05/2019 12:38

Usually people over the age of 50 who are part of the generation told that spread was better for you. We only ever had marg in our fridge when I was a kid - I was used to it then and didn't mind it but now I can't eat it.

MsMightyTitanAndHerTroubadours · 17/05/2019 12:38

President Beurre D'Isgny...if you can get to costco it's £3.79 for 500g so a veritable bargain.
I buy loads when there and keep it in the freezer until needed.

YemenRoadYemen · 17/05/2019 12:38

Surely you only use butter (or oil, if it calls for it) for baking...

wigglybeezer · 17/05/2019 12:38

M&S organic butter is my favourite after buying many to try and find the tastiest.

wigglybeezer · 17/05/2019 12:43

It actually easy to make your own spreadable, saves on plastic; soften a block of butter and whisk in about 25%/30%mild flavoured veg oil (electric hand mixer is best for this) and a bit extra salt then pop in to a reusable container and chill.

Branleuse · 17/05/2019 12:54

lurpak is the best one for toast. You cant use sunflower spread or any "spread" on toast usually as they have a high water content and make toast soggy. The only non butter spread ive ever found that didnt make it go soggy, was some vegan spreadable fake butter that was really expensive and i got in sainsburies. That was pretty good actually.
Normally spread is ok for sandwiches, but not toast

MWNA · 17/05/2019 19:30

Clover.
Butter is just fatty and revolting.

Squiff70 · 17/05/2019 19:35

Countrylife - and it's one of the only ones which doesn't have palm oil in.
