Which butter/spread is actually tasty?

I've just had Morrison's own bland and tasteless sunflower spread. I want something delicious on my toast. Any recommendations?

I would absolutely have assumed that organic meant grass fed. Shock

JuliaAndJulia · 17/05/2019 22:41

Kerry Gold. It's the best and 'real' butter.

sunshine19781 · 17/05/2019 22:43

President slightly salted - delish!

Kerrygold ftw. All day long.

cuppycups · 17/05/2019 23:23

I do use unsalted butter for cooking (I try to have a low salt diet) but not for spreading weirdly. Probably due to the lack of a butter dish.

You've converted me to salted butter now.

Spreads may not taste nice but they are not some sort of Frankenstein butter. Lurpak cows are both grass fed, and barn housed.

Thallo · 17/05/2019 23:46

Why do British people buy so much Danish butter and Danish bacon anyway? Is it that much cheaper? I know Danish pigs were battery farmed and kept in crates they couldn't even turn around in. Is this still the case?

emotionalaffair · 17/05/2019 23:55

Proper butter, not lurpak. The kind with sea salt crystals in it.

FissionChips · 17/05/2019 23:58

President spreadable or goats butter.

Davros · 18/05/2019 00:47

M&S spreadable butter. No nasties in it. I found Lurpak spreadable very disappointing and it had some unpleasant things in it iirc

Wallabyone · 18/05/2019 00:54

I love butter, so much. I don't see the point of toast, crumpets, toasted bagels and muffins, if you're just going to top them with watery rubbish. To the oerson who said butter is fatty and revolting, but eats clover? Hahaha! Butter is delicious. I like Lurpak, I have a Le Crueset butter dish, and it normally takes about a week to get through a block in our house. I put it in scrambled eggs and we have pancakes once a week too. I also like more salty butters too.

YouBumder · 18/05/2019 00:54

Proper butter. I love salted butter (President generally) but we tend to just buy unsalted as we bake a lot.

SheSaidNoFuckThat · 18/05/2019 01:52

Real butter is the best but it's either rock hard or melted. Out of a tub it has to be clover

drspouse · 18/05/2019 01:58

Butter, in a Lakeland insulated butter dish.

aatwi · 18/05/2019 03:18

Ghee

Starrynights86 · 18/05/2019 04:24

Only proper butter!

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 18/05/2019 07:05

You can buy president butter in the U.K. to a previous poster who said they got it in France. I buy it from booths.

converseandjeans · 18/05/2019 07:11

President
Lurpak
Yeo Valey
Basically proper butter rather than spread. It's better for you too.

MadamBatty · 18/05/2019 08:12

Kerrygold, having some now lashed on toasted soda bread

madeyemoodysmum · 18/05/2019 08:14

Real butter is the only thing to put on toast

reluctantbrit · 18/05/2019 08:21

Butter. After only ever having spread during my childhood moving in with DH was a revelation.

We have a china butter dish and it is outside next to the toaster all year apart from high summer.

We normally buy Yeovalley, I think you taste the difference to other brands.

Spinnaret · 18/05/2019 08:41

Country Life.

I used some of the butter I keep in for baking recently, and on toast, it was utterly vile. I used to love it, so I guess it is a case of what you get used to

Davros · 18/05/2019 17:12

M&S spreadable is real butter

Housewife2010 · 18/05/2019 17:18

I have a tiny butter dish from Utility so I can keep a a thick slice of butter in it at room temperature. If I put a whole packet in it I'd never get through it. Real butter is so much nicer than adulterated or fake versions.
