Hi, does anyone know if, when you forward a chain of conversation and there was a draft email that you had not yet sent in the chain, the draft is visible to the recipient of the forwarded email?

Sorry if that's not very clear!

No the draft will only be visible to you.

GabrielleNelson · 14/05/2019 21:54

I wouldn't have thought so because you never pressed send on the draft. Hope not, anyway!

Wobblington · 14/05/2019 21:54

No it's not visible. If you go to your sent folder you can see exactly what was sent to the sender.

AuditAngel · 14/05/2019 21:55

It depends which email in the chain you pick up to forward.

Say there were 6 emails in the chain, and you draft number 7, don’t send but leave in drafts. The only way it would be in a forwarded chain, was if you clicked on mail 7 in drafts.

If you selected mails 1-6 and forwarded, only those would be included.

CheekyFuckersDontGetPastMe · 14/05/2019 21:55

I’f its a draft it won’t be in the email chain of sent emails because it’s not been sent yet.

Basically, I'd been exchanging emails with an HR person, wrote my resignation as a draft, then decided to email my manager to try to resolve the situation before resigning... I don't really want him to see that I've written a resignation.

In the 'sent' box it shows the email I sent my boss with the resignation email draft below it, but says 'Draft' in red next to it... I don't know if he'd see this or not?

Oh thank you all - in the time I was writing my clarification you all answered! That's a huge relief!! Thank you Blush

No it's a draft therefore unpublished.

Why not test the theory by sending something to another email account?

GabrielleNelson · 14/05/2019 21:58

As an aside, I loathe the conversation view in Outlook. I always change the view to individual messages. Then I know what's going on.

Onceuponamidnight · 14/05/2019 21:59

Auditangel I think/hope I clicked on the email before the resignation. That's good to know.

Good idea Bedraggled - will do.

I do too, Gabrielle - it automatically shifted to that view a couple of months ago and it makes it harder to spot emails from people because they're hidden in chains. I will search how to change back to individual - didn't know you could!

The way things are set up for us at work, I think there may be a global setting you can change, but otherwise it can be done folder by folder. It's in the same area as sorting by date/from/to etc.

Onceuponamidnight · 14/05/2019 22:36

That's fantastic Gabrielle, thank you - all this time I didn't realise you could click on that filtering button and revert to messages instead of conversations! Will tell my colleagues in the morning and feel quite the whizz!
