Black summer, has there ever been a more confusing zombie series (spoilers)

Weve just watched the nightclub thing one, why were they so keen to kill everyone?
Rose was helping the guy with the curly hair escape, they hid in a room and out of nowhere she slapped him, why?
Such a confusing series.

Oh and why do they walk past and randomly drop weapons all the time

Bump

Oh my, that series was rubbish!

Can anyone explain why she slapped him? And then later the 'soldier' looked furious with him.

And hasn't she heard of dry shampoo? The walking dead lot manage to look decent.

I read that apparently the editing is all over the shop with this programme, so that's probably why it doesn't make sense. I gave up after 2 episodes!

StealthPolarBear · 14/05/2019 22:11

No kidding, I could do a better job myself. In most of these things I spend my time saying "what did he say?" "who is she?" "why did she do that?" but DH always knows. This time he's as baffled as me.

Wasn’t the guy she slapped trying to rape her?
Have you seen the ending yet? I was on board until the ending 🧐

1happyhippie · 14/05/2019 22:14

I gave up on this too.
It looked quite promising as well from the trailer.
And how fast are those zombies? Like usain bolt on speed!
I always thought in the event of a zombie apocalypse atleast we could outrun them. Not in this show you can’t!

PamelaDooveOrangeJoof · 14/05/2019 22:15

Oh I think she was trying to wake him up as he was out of it? I thought they had drugged him as he seemed to have difficulty moving around? Or he was drunk? On drugs?

StealthPolarBear · 14/05/2019 22:16

No she was being raped, the curly haired guy said "uuuuurgh" rapist walked off, she helped him up, they ran into a cell type thing and then she just slapped him.
No not seen the ending yet. I'd ask you not to spoil it but an explanation prior to watching it might be helpful.
I wondered about the running. I run very slowly. Do you think people like me could run fast as zombies or did you need the skill when alive :o

StealthPolarBear · 14/05/2019 22:17

Ah that would make sense thanks. She looked cross though, as did the black guy when he shoved a gun in his hands.
I assumed he'd been beaten. I have no idea who the big group of partiers were and why they were trying to kill them all.

Also the main woman looks entirely different half way through. Again DH who is usually very good at watching TV ("had a lot of practice) thought she was someone different.

JollyAndBright · 14/05/2019 22:27

Lance (the curly haired man) was drugged, she slapped him to try to get him lucid enough to escape.

The dropping weapons thing, I assume it’s because they know how difficult it will be to find ammo, so carrying around an empty gun is pointless.
In the club they are raiding to get new guns and ammo so they don’t need the old guns when they run out of ammo.

StealthPolarBear · 14/05/2019 22:29

But why does he need to turn the lights off? And why does the woman slash someones neck?

OP posts:
StealthPolarBear · 14/05/2019 22:30

And they walk past axes, knives...

RaptorWhiskers · 14/05/2019 22:34

I was massively confused why they didn’t just sneak out of the nightclub quietly. I appreciate it was a den of evil but that’s not their problem. And yes I was on board until the unrealistic ending.

1happyhippie · 14/05/2019 22:38

I think they turn the power off as a distraction to get the weapons.
I thought she slashed that guys throat to cause panic and distract them while the others were getting the stuff too.Dunno. That’s just what I got from it.
Is there going to be a second series, or is it just a one off thing?
Might go back to it and rewatch bits, I never got to the final episode so I don’t know how it ends either.

Dontgiveamonkeys1350 · 14/05/2019 22:39

I think I’m the only person who really enjoyed it and can’t wait for the next series Blush

JollyAndBright · 14/05/2019 22:40

They cut the lights/power to cause chaos so that they can escape unnoticed/easily without a battle.

It’s suggested in the previous episode that her and her boyfriend were part of a gang/shady group.
How they knew about the place, the weapons and how to get in/the layout and the guards and the fact the couple were allowed to roam the club unescorted suggested they had been there before and were probably previously part of it in some way, it was definitely some kind of revenge murder.

Axes and knives, etc, are only good if you are confident in close combat, given the choice guns are a much easier and safer option.

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 14/05/2019 22:52

I liked it too @Dontgiveamonkeys1350 although the last two episodes confused me. Maybe I should rewatch!

I thought it had shades of early TWD. Which I don’t watch anymore as it’s rubbish.

gamerchick · 14/05/2019 22:58

I enjoyed it, it was so nice being back in the Z nation universe. Gutted it was cancelled.

There's a few different perspectives with the same bit being shown from another person's view. Can be hard to follow if you don't watch closely.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 14/05/2019 23:01

I gave up on it.

Loving Z Nation though.

FissionChips · 14/05/2019 23:11

You’re not alone, I watched the whole series in one night and have watched it 3 times since then Blush

IAmNotAWitch · 15/05/2019 07:05

Black Summer takes itself too seriously. Z Nation was excellent.
