I was taking a 5 minute break from my desk, sitting outside in the sun on the grass enjoying my vape and reading a chapter in my book. I heard loud group making a lot of noise, but chose to ignore.

A little later I looked up and there's a group of 4 youngish lads (late teens early 20's) walking by, they then start shouting random crap "hey beautiful", "can I have your number?" I assume they're shouting at someone else, because let's face it I'm old and over weight, so I keep my head down and keep reading my book and just ignore them.

About 30 seconds later, with the shouting continuing up until then, I suddenly get hit on the back with a stick that has obviously been thrown from the raised (public) garden behind me. I then decide fuck this and head back to the office. While riding up in the elevator back to my office I spot the same 4 lads in the raised garden behind where i was sitting.

Now the stick wasn't large enough to do any damage, but enough to hurt a little, they were definitely intimidating in their group.

Is it worth logging a report with the local police? I don't want them thinking they can get away with this, but to be honest with 4 of them and no one else obviously around I wasn't about to give them a mouthful, because I have my own safety to take into account. But can the police actually do anything? There's a fair amount of CCTV around, so they might see something, or should I just chalk it up to one of those things and forget about it.

Log it with your local police. (Having said that, I'm on first name terms with ours because I can't just leave anything... Was also a regular caller to Crimewatch back in the day! Wink)

They won't be able to do much I wouldn't have thought but they might just get a PCSO to take a turn round the area at lunchtimes if they have the staff. Where I live, we're quite lucky to have a very 'visible' police presence with community officers and they're always pleased to be 'present' in certain areas at certain times to help avoid trouble later on.

No harm in reporting it.
